There is something really amazing about witnessing a moment like this. This high school student got to meet her first shark and it was incredible. The shark came close and then continued swimming. "That was so cool, " she shouted! These personal experiences are extremely powerful for changing the perception people often have of sharks. Fear and misunderstanding fade away and are relaxed with respect and fascination. We are so lucky to be able to share these moments with students around the world. πŸ“· @biminisharkgirl #sharks #sharkeducation #savesharks #saveourseas #saveoursharks #sharkweek #sharklover #sharks4kids #Swimwithsharks #underwaterphotography #snorkeling #explore #itsbetterinthebahamas #shark #sharks #nurseshark #nursesharks
MEGAMOUTH SHARK: SHOCKING NEW VIDEOS AND INFORMATION After some research, Shark Guardian are now able to share videos by Hiroyuki Arakawa of scuba diving club ζ³’ε·¦ι–“ζ΅·δΈε…¬εœ’ . Shark Guardian prides itself on an ethos : 'Conservation for divers, by divers' so there is an obligation to share these videos with you. Shark Guardian hopes the video helps obtain facts regarding the capture and death of a very rare Megamouth shark. Videos were found using a named source via an article by Earth Touch which can be found on the Shark Guardian Facebook page. Full video link in bio. The dead Megamouth shark is now in the hands of scientists who can hopefully learn valuable information regarding this rare, deep water shark. #megamouth #megamouthshark #deepseacreature #shark #sharks #savesharks #scubadiving #scubadivers #codesofconduct #Japan #sharkincaptivity #deadmegamouth
Photo & Repost by our #NakaweTeamMember @cassie.jensen.photography with the #hammerheadbracelet by @capeclasp in colaboration with #GameOverFishing #NakaweDocumentary ・・・ We must learn to coexist with these beautiful species before it's too late. They are in extreme danger of becoming extinct within our lifetime. We dive with these sharks all the time, and see the impact humans have on them. Many have hooks with long lines trailing behind, and this shark has a broken jaw. He also has a large hook in the other corner of his mouth. Extinction is forever - but we can still help save them. You can help by volunteering, donating, lessening your daily footprint, or you can find organizations that help donate their proceeds to conservation organizations. Pictured is a @capeclasp hammerhead bracelet - they are collaborating with @nakaweproject and donate to our cause to help the fight to save sharks. Together we can make a difference - LET LIVE! @deepobsession_charters. #shark #sharks #savesharks #stopfinning #stopsharkfinning #silky #silkyshark #GameOverFishing #LetLive

Cool 😎 photo of a sea turtle cleaning station by @blakethompsonphoto These Honu here are hovering over prominent coral heads where they will await their cleaning by fish 🐟🐠. Local fish species include the Hawaiian saddleback wrasse, convict tang and yellow tang (Zamzow,J. 1999). This behavior is a symbiotic relationship because the fish get food and the sea turtles are cleaned of unwanted algae, micro organisms, and in some cases harmful fibropapillomatosis!πŸ€™πŸ½ Gotta love symbiotic relationships!Check us out at OneOceanDiving.com & JOIN US in the waterΒ in #Hawaii on #Oahu #NorthShore Β to #SwimWithSharks and #DiveWithSharksInHawaii with a trained #MarineBiologist / #SharkSafetyDiver Check out our #Shark and #MarineResearch @OneOceanResearch and our #Education outreach program @OneOceanEducation #LearnAboutSharks and our Non-Profit @Waterinspired conservation group and Founders: @Juansharks and @Oceanicramsey Want to join the team? #fbf that time we had a wild lady Blue pass thru a pack of Galapagos offshore Haleiwa aggregation. Her behavior was as different from the Galapagos sharks as was her appearance. Gumbi-like was the best way to describe her demeanor to a communal audience referencing her curiously investigative nose bumps off of @juansharks camera dome, #PonoKai and even other sharks. An interesting character difference between sharks and humans is the appendages with hands we use to decipher our environment. Humans are tactile. We physically feel items or see and visually recognize that difference in texture. But because sharks do not have hands they use the snout to get a read on their environment when they feel safe enough to do so. Little is known about populations of Blue Shark #PRIONACEglauca in Hawai'i beyond the catch rates of longline fisheries. In the target projectory of #Swordfish , Xiphias gladius, and #BigEyeTuna , Thunnus obesus, over catch data collected from 1994-2000 and 2004-2006, 84.5% of shark bycatch was made up of #BlueShark (especially in the shallower set tuna industry). Significant P values (under 0.0001) reveal difference in mean fork length (FL) of blue sharks caught in 1995-2000 set larger than those caught in 2004-2006 set. Mean fork length also reflect significantly larger size ratio of males to females. "The sizes of blue sharks also exhibited spatial, seasonal and sexual variation," (Walsh, Bigelow, & Sender 2009). @seajewl. WOW! @brianskerry Amazing photo πŸ‘ thank you for sharing @NatGeo Magazine Photo by @BrianSkerry. A large Tiger Shark swims alongside a diver in the Bahamas. With the Tiger Shark once considered the most dangerous shark species in tropical waters, researchers are just now beginning to understand behaviors that were once a mystery. Despite being large predators, life in the ocean is difficult, and these creatures face many challenges in order to survive. As with all species of shark, the Tiger Shark faces declining populations worldwide due to the continued demand for shark fins. Photographed on assignment for @NatGeo Magazine. This photo appears on the back cover of my new book - entitled β€˜SHARK’ - which will be available on June 13th wherever books are sold. This book is filled with photos of sharks, and it chronicles my personal journey of photographing sharks worldwide over the past 40 years. Still sold freely "Many sharks are caught as by catch every years, meaning they were caught in gear being used to catch other fish. And then, they were still sold freely. Untill now, We can find them in traditional fish market" #savesharks #shark #sharkconservation #fisheries #marine
"The sea lives in every one of us." ~Robert Wyland Today was my favorite day exploring. I saw many fish, I felt the heart of the sea and I fell deeper in love with the ocean. Sometimes white sharks just look so darn cute 😍
Just because we live in the Midwest doesn't mean we aren't effected by sharks. Most oxygen comes from plants in the ocean. Sharks keep the ocean healthy! Think about the increase in shark sightings the last few weeks and then about how many attacks you've heard of during the same time. We aren't on the menu, and their fins shouldn't be on ours! When you go into the ocean, you are going into their home. ❀️🦈
