@jenniferhayesig // An octopus hunting at night rests for a moment on a shell that it uses as shelter on a barren sand bottom in Anilao Philippines. When the octopus moves it picks up its shell and brings it along like a mobile home. There is very little structure to provide cover on this soft sediment substrate so any piece of wood, shell, debris becomes valuable habitat that these octopus collect, carry and defend. It is always time well spent watching these intelligent creative creatures If you look very very close you will see a chain salp slowly moving through the night sea on the right side of the frame.
