We loved checking out Fort Sumter where the Confederate artillery open fired starting the American Civil War in April 1861. There were even 3 cannon balls still lodged in the fort walls that I forgot to take a pic of, but it was all amazing to see and try to picture the events that happened here! In the 2nd pic everyone had spotted a dolphin- we saw quite a few on our trip which was cool!
GORGEOUS day on Charleston harbor! I think the last time I took a tour boat to visit Ft. Sumter I was seven? Had a great time with Chris and @nuck1969 !
A little too chilly for me, but very interesting. #civilwar #fortsumter #boatridewasfreezing

This would have been a sucky place to spend a few months during the Civil War. Really sucky.
I just fit in Charleston, what can I say? #hometownhero
History lesson: the first shots of the civil war were fired at Fort Sumter, an island fortress protecting Charleston harbor.
