Well, my expedition to the Recorder of Deeds office was quite fruitful. I was able to track records on this property to before there was even a house built on it and it was just bare land. There are no questions about who owned the property anymore...however, some other questions come up, particularly after hearing some of the stories we were told...for example, we were told the brother of the original builder, who was a doctor, used the third floor as a sanitarium for people with consumption....however, he never lived on this property? Did he borrow the house from his brother to bring sick people in?...Back to the historical society, I guess...I need answers! .
On another note, I was able to trace their genealogy all yhe way back to the 1600s...1600s...let that sink in for a moment. I will post on that soon!

@1887_pearl I have, yes. And they were super excited to meet the new owners of the house. They do open houses at the historical society, so I will have to go back next month - 2 months ago

@minnichonmain that’s honestly what I was worried about. Wasn’t sure how receptive they would be. I’ve been dying to get to our historical society as well but their hours do not work with my schedule, so far. I read that you’ve been there, too, right? - 2 months ago

@1887_pearl It totally is! And the people at the Recorder of Deeds office were so happy and willing to help! Can't say the same for the Tax Assessment office...😒 - 2 months ago

@minnichonmain that is so exciting! I can not wait. I can not imagine how you have the time for all of this. You are going to have to admit yourself to the top floor of your home. lol😂 - 2 months ago

@noeltwentyfive I will! I was creating a beautiful family tree yesterday, I was almost done...and then I realized I put one of the people in the wrong place, which threw off the whole thing so now I have to start over 😭 They all shared the same names with some variances here and there, so it got extremely confusing at times. Still, I will work on it again today. My plan is to have the history of the house, plus the family history published by the weekend...🤞 - 2 months ago

Are you going to share with us these names? I'm sure some genealogy sluths will be happy to investigate beyond 1600's. I am sure the Daughters of the American Revolution would be of help too. - 2 months ago
