Manoj Gogoi, our Mud on Boots Project Leader in #Assam , feeds sibling White-breasted #kingfishers whom he rescued and nurtured to adulthood. They have since returned to the #wild . Manoj has been reaching and #rehabilitating scores of wild #animals in need, including snakes, birds and different mammals since 2012. His dedication and dynamism has won him the respect and admiration of the local community in Assam. Through our Mud on Boots Project, Sanctuary Nature Foundation works to enhance Manoj's project activities and amplify its outreach. By giving such #earth heroes support to execute their projects and by spotlighting their contribution, we intend to magnify the impact of their #conservation work and connect them with a wider network of #wildlife protectors across the world. We expect to add more projects leaders to the list in the coming months. Prakash / 3rd Prize - The Sanctuary Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 // Not many people have seen a black a #leopard in the #wild . Fewer still have photographed one. And virtually no image has ever been taken before of a pair-bonded female black leopard and a 'normal' coloured male. This was taken in the #Nilgiris but we are not revealing the exact location as this would almost certainly prompt an avalanche of #photographers to reach the spot, endangering the tranquillity that is the leopards’ protection.
#Repost @malaikavaz (@get_repost ) ・・・ I took this photograph on a trawling boat on the east coast of India. Every year, large numbers of turtles get caught in long-line nets set out by fishermen. Fearing prosecution by the forest department for catching a protected species, the fishermen throw the turtles back into the ocean. On this day, only 3 out of the 11 were alive when tossed back in. Thinking of these turtles and the protection they deserve today on World Turtle Day. #turtle #worldturtleday #conservation #wild #india #natgeo #earthcapture #ocean #wildlife #photography #racingextinction
When the #woods go, #wildlife goes. And with it, us. It's really that simple.
#Repost @stevewinterphoto (@get_repost ) ・・・ Hey folks. This is an out of the ordinary post of a screenshot to commemorate an exciting evening for Sharon Guynup and I. Tonight we're attending the Society of Professional Journalists The Deadline Club awards ceremony. Sharon and I are finalists in the Magazine Investigative Journalism category for the Tiger Temple story Sharon wrote and the accompanying video I shot and co-produced with Sharon. The story was an exclusive on @NatGeo 's Wildlife Watch blog. I also want to mention Sharon was also the winner of the 2017 Arlene Award “for an article that makes a difference” from the American Society of Journalists and Authors for this same story. Sharon wrote 4 stories on this topic for @natgeo and never gave up until all 147 tigers were confiscated and the temple’s tiger operations were shut down. We’ll find out if we won tonight at the Harvard Club, but regardless this is an incredible honor and we're excited to meet so many people doing such important work! Click on the link in my bio to read the story and stay tuned. I might even post an even rarer photo of myself! #sharonguynup @wildaid #tigertemple #wildlifetrafficking #wildlifecrime #tigers #tigertrafficking #journalism #tigertemple #thailand #richardparker @cee4life #cee4life #wildlifephotography #wildlife #wildlifephotojournalist #teamwork
