Merry Fitmas! Day is day 12 of the fitmas challenge. I missed yesterday so today was my re-attempt of day 7. It was extremely difficult but I'm proud of myself to making it a point to work out 5/6 days a week for the last 12 days. Day 6 was rest day. Day 7 I struggled SOOO much with (supersets) I got about half way through when my body said no more. And today (Day 8) I crushed it. 3 rounds and 45 reps. I saw the clock hit 60 seconds and ran through what I could while having to finish a 30 second plank hold. Commandos are no joke and I struggled the most with those and the v ups. I'm finding where my weaknesses are with this challenge and it's making me realize what I need to work on more. Chest day. Warmed up with 70kg with feet off the floor then on to 90kg (New pb) also finally got the 38kg up for 4 reps (another pb) there are no 40kg so not sure where to go from here, didn't get video of it as my camera man is also my spotter πŸ˜‚. Day 5 complete. It's soooo important to stretch after a workout. I typically combine stuff I learned in yoga classes with typical stretches I learned back in elementary school gym classes. This workout was a killer. I switched burpees to kettlebell swings and switched ab bike's to straight leg sit ups. Everything is sore. Everyone in the gym was staring. Trainers, the guys who run the front desk, other members. EVERYONE. This type of attention, two weeks ago, gave me a panic attack to the point where I had to stop and leave the gym. I felt confident and strong today so I pushed through dripping sweat and red faced. I'm just happy no one approached me during my workout as that probably would've made me crawl back into my hole. I went in with intention and purpose. Day 4 fitmas challenge. Changed it a little bit again but it worked for me. EMOM 5 rds. Min. 1: 10 burpees Min. 2: 20 Russian twists (each side) Min. 3: 30 second handstand hold Rough workout. Was really hard on myself for only doing 5 rounds (15 minutes) instead of 10 (30 minutes) but then I realized this was the first time in MONTHS that I've worked out 4 days in a row, especially at a high intensity level and pushed myself passed barriers I put up after I left the crossfit world. This was the first time I had done a hand stand in about a year. It was tough to hold it for the full 30 seconds and I'm not going to lie, there was a couple times I had to kick myself off the wall by the 20 second mark. On the 4th day of #FitMas came resistance band walks (from @kaceyveiking )β—οΈβ˜ƒοΈπŸŽ„πŸ’ͺ🏽 β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ This is a key preventative exercise to improve hip stability, strengthen hip abductors (gluteus medius), and increase the stability of the knee joint. A strong gluteus medius stabilizes the hip while also helping to maintain proper tracking of the knee joint by reducing lateral stress on the knee. On the 3rd day of #FitMas came single leg deadlifts (from @bellaroppolo )! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΌβ„οΈ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” A great exercise for the glutes and hamstrings, the single leg deadlift involves standing on one leg with the knee slightly bent, bending at the hip and extending the opposite leg behind, and returning to the starting position. We all know what’s coming – the month of over-indulging! December is upon us, and with it comes the never ending parade of cookies, fudge, and secretly eating leftover pumpkin pie in the corner. Oh wait, is that just me? πŸ₯§ What I do realize is that people need support coming out of the most gluttonous holiday πŸ¦ƒ and the quickly heading into the most stressful holiday of the year πŸŽ„ β€œOh, I’ll just wait until after New Years to start…” and by then, an additional 10lbs have made their way onto our muffin tops. Took the dogs for another mile long walk through the snowy woods this morning. On the plus side, my workout is in πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ🏼 and I got to try out my new winter parka (thank you @kohls cash!) Sometimes I really struggle finding a workout that I am good at and can stay consistent with....which is where I've been for the past week or so. πŸ˜• Meaning I am VERY thankful that our #12daysoffitmaschallenge will be coming up in the private fb group I am in - in just a week from today!!!
