So today wasn’t to painful after all!😉 Straight home tea done ✅ kids bathed and bed ✅ kitchen smelling of zoflora ✅ and now time to get all domesticated and iron some shirts for work ✅
How was everyone else’s day?
We’re trying to gloss over the negatives of today which, amongst others, is the fact that our @dektonbycosentino
work for the island has broken whilst being cut out for the hob 😫 The fabricators, who were going to come and fit them at 7.30am in Saturday morning have been trying to find another slab from anywhere in the country.....we will know more tomorrow lunchtime! Also, they’re cutting the other piece for the sink tomorrow morning😱 so we have everything crossed that the same doesn’t happen to that. Apparently there’s about a 30% chance of it happening, especially to the X Gloss finishes👎🏻The silver lining is that if it does and more slabs can’t be found, we can have a lie in on Saturday morning 😏
In other news.....we have new white wood work, a new radiator and a new carpet to the front bedroom👏🏻yay! I’m just going to lay in here drinking gin and smelling the paint and carpet😁 Floor coverings and underlay, oh how I’ve missed you! #prayforourworktops #1930shouserenovation #houserenovation #shitday #newcarpetsmell #diy
There haven’t been any builders today and none tomorrow so it is becoming increasingly obvious that our poor house is probably going to be cold, dirty and completely uncomfortable for Christmas . Luckily we have good friends and each other and that is all you need right?! #1930shouse #1930shouserenovation #1930shouseproject #christmas #love
*Bathroom and loft* Not a very exciting post, but the bathroom fitter popped round yesterday, he can't start til the New Year but we expected that anyway. What we didn't expect was him to tell us the space isn't suitable for a free-standing bath! #firstworldproblems
So back to the drawing board on that one. One pleasant surprise is that whilst building a new door frame for the bathroom, the joiner also made a new loft hatch with stairs! And the loft isn't in as bad a condition as we thought it might be 🎉🎉
I left my mum alone in the house for an afternoon and when I got home she'd whipped up this blind from a 50 p fabric remnant I bought over the summer. She even finished the mist coat on the plaster, so maybe over Christmas I'll finally finish painting the hall and stairs. #handyparents #lovemymum #1930shouserenovation #budgetconscious
We’re a very tired, grumpy and ill household tonight! But, the mother in law has been a star today and has painted our first set of new skirting boards👏🏻 This is the front bedroom and its new carpet day on Wednesday👏🏻 We’ve gone quite safe and muted with colours for now but the wall pictured will become a feature.......eventually! But now i think it’s time for some much needed shut eye as there is a lot of swearing at inanimate objects🤬🤣 #notfeelingittonight #1930shouserenovation #housetohome #diy #fedthefuckup
Blurring the lines between outdoors and indoors once more while capturing a little winter sun this morning. ✨
The parquet flooring is going down this week so I spent the weekend painting the newly plastered walls in the living room. Still no patio doors. The 3rd installation date provided by the supplier came and went (they’d already let us down on two previous occasions) and they didn’t arrive, so we’ve had to go back to square one and reorder them from another supplier who will hopefully turn out to be more reliable. (Let’s not even talk about how angry I was about this.) Anyway it’s a new week and hopefully in a couple of days I’ll have a beautiful new floor to show you. #designhunterrenovations
After a weekend spent celebrating with friends at a wedding, we caught up with some long-overdue jobs at home. I think we did more in a couple of hours than we have for several weeks. But this is, after all, supposed to be a renovations account so I guess I have to dabble with DIY occasionally... #1930shouserenovation #renolife #renovation
Our first full weekend back working on the house after a couple of busy weekends away. Yesterday was spent going from B&Q to M&S then to John Lewis to Habitat then to DFS to Harvey's then Carpetright 😅 Think we might be close to choosing a sofa for the living room and flooring for the bathroom...! Not closer with the paint for the living room though as we spent half an hour looking at paints only to be told by the sales assistant that they had no tester pots! So back to window cleaning for me.. Woohoo 😑 I promise I'll stop showing you pictures of the gross windows!
