The first big rain of the season creates a phenomenon called the "first flush." What happens is all the detritus, chemicals and pollution that has found its way on the ground washes down the drains, making its way out to sea. As a result it is not safe to swim or surf in the water for days and sometimes weeks afterwards. Imagine what it does to all the life in and around it?
This stunning footage was captured by @thecigarettesurfboard
when the first flush happened in Los Angeles a few days ago. They have a GoFundMe campaign going right now to raise funds for their documentary, if you liked this video be sure to check them out.

We can cleanup, we can refuse, we can reuse, we can share ideas and most importantly we can support change in our local communities.
