“When I got down here from Chicago was probably the happiest moment in my life. I checked into The Healing Place when I got here on December 12th, 2006 and have been sober going on twelve years. I have been in Louisville ever since that day and I am still so happy about it, I like this place, Louisville is nice to settle down and relax, not as high pace as Chicago. It is a miracle that I recovered because I was in bad shape, drugs and alcohol ruled my world, I didn’t think I had a disease until I got here and learned about mental obsessions and physical allergies.
My goal now is to tell a lot of people about Christ. I am a member of 4th avenue United Methodist Church and I sing in the choir there. I never would have even thought about doing anything like that before I went through recovery.
If I could change one thing about the world it would be to put more love into the hearts of people. When I first got here there was more hospitality and less anger, less people addicted and overall it was a happier, more loving place. Another thing I learned about my addiction was that I needed affection, someone to tell me that they loved me and cared for me, they hug a lot in recovery and I swear it makes a difference, we are going to need a lot of love to change the world.”

“My passions are shoes and music; if I could do anything for a living it would be without a doubt be traveling the country doing music. I also really like photography as well, even though I am not very good at it. I just really enjoy the thought of catching a single moment in time and freezing it there forever.
The happiest I have ever been was December 9th of last year when I asked my best friend to be my wife, if you ask me again in a few months it will be the day that I married her.
For a period of about four and a half years I was in a very unhealthy relationship that I convinced myself was God’s plan for me regardless of the many signs that it was not. I was trying to force it, but knew somewhere deep down that I wasn’t in the right place. We were engaged for about four months and she cheated on me. Its hard to explain how angry, upset and betrayed I felt. I struggled to make sense of what my life had become, I shut down and shut people out, I started to fall back into the same place that I had already left behind me – I wanted nothing to do with anyone. It was then that I turned to the only person who could help, God, he brought me to the church I am affiliated with now and allowed me to join the worship team and introduced me to my now fiancé and I knew immediately what it was like to be in Gods will.
If I could change one thing about the world it would be to change the way politics work and the way we view them. I hate the idea of democrats verse republicans, who’s right and who is wrong and who’s better than the other. I wish we could all just work together to help guarantee we see progress and major results over time.”
