Utkatasana or Fierce Pose ❤️(also known as chair pose) for day 1 of #ALove4Yoga
. We love this pose because it’s very accessible and has so many benefits. I incorporate utkatasana into nearly every class I teach (of course they always show up in Sun B). This pose is fantastic for building heat in the body. A few tips on moving into utkatasana: Begin in mountain pose. On an inhale breathe, extend your arms up, parallel to each other, palms facing each other (unless you’re taking a different variation). Exhale to sink the hips, working towards thighs parallel to the floor. Squeeze the inner thighs together and shift your weight back enough to root down through the four corners of your feet, keeping your toes light. (I’m intensifying by balancing on the balls of my feet - totally optional!) Avoid compression of the low back by engaging your abdominal muscles. Shoulder blades pressing on to the back ribs. Stay for a few breaths as you feel the heat build. ❤️ Please check in with @alissayoga
