Day 26 of 28 #OverTheCounterwith  @cyogalife  #titthibhasana prep Thank you also to @yogawithaislinn  and @rachely.wang An ein vollständiges #titthibhasana oder #fireflypose ist bei mir noch nicht zu denken. Bei dieser Vorbereitung können wir langsam darauf hinarbeiten. Starte stehend und bringe einen Arm nach unten und versuch das Bein dann über den Oberarm bzw. die Schulter zu bekommen. Der Start ist der gleiche wie in #titthibhasana . Arbeite dich langsam in die tiefe Vorbeuge und lass dir für jeden Arm ein paar Atemzüge Zeit. Zieh die Energie zur Mitte und drücke die beine zur Mittellinie zusammen. Dann beginne langsam die Beine zu beugen, die Hüfte kommt nach unten und der Blick nach oben bzw. nach vorne ohne den Nacken abzuknicken.  Komm auf die Zehenspitzen. Eine Variation ist, die Hände nicht abzulegen, sondern auf den Fingerspitzen zu lassen. Wer etwas mehr Unterstützung braucht, kann sich einen Block unter den Po schieben oder die Asana entgegen eine Wand praktizieren. Zieht die Energie stetig zur Mitte, den Bauchnabel nach innen. Welp... nope... no squats today for #100squats31days ... Instead I’ve been battling a migraine since I woke up and I’ve maxed out my dosage on my prescription migraine meds for the day, and I still feel like garbage. And what’s a huge bummer, is that a side effect of my migraine meds, is that they cause pain in the joints. (As if my migraine hadn’t already taken care of that). So... it’s been a self care day. And by that, I mean listening to my body and understanding its limits; knowing when I need to take a break and respecting all that my body does every day already. I must take time to acknowledge how far my body has come and be grateful of how few “bad days” I have now compared to two years ago. It’s amazing... it truly is. So instead of pushing my body’s limits today, I’m respecting them and allowing my body to have the rest that it needs. This picture was taken over a month ago on @lvlyoga and I’s retreat. It marked for me a small victory in which I was able to access my forearmstand after two months of suffering a nasty pull to my intercostal muscles. For anyone anywhere who’s suffered an injury you understand how frustrating and humbling it is to have limitations to your movement. For a while I could barely hold my left arm up in warrior II. Because I am naturally flexible when I get to the limitations of my joint stability I have gotten in the bad habit of using my flexibility to manipulate my body to achieve certain poses. And it took me a long time to know I was even doing it. Most of the time it didn’t even feel forced though I know enough that if one doesn’t practice intelligently then eventually we get injured. 🙇🏼‍♀️ So I was allotted an opportunity to not only change the way I practice but how I teach. We’re a society that places value in progress over truth. What do I mean by that? Well we would rather take the easy route to get to the end result rather than take the necessary time and steps to get there. I see it ALLLL the time in my teaching and it turns out I was doing it myself. Forcing and manipulating our way to achievement. But when we force we lose the real work. The lesson. The freedom. It’s almost a reprogramming of our natural tendency to choose easy. To take a shortcut. Hard work usually sucks. But it’s necessary. And for me as a student and a teacher it’s crucial. It’ll be a long road but I’m willing to walk it because growth comes from deeper inquiry. 💡 📸 @jawellbeing

Day 24 of 28 #OverTheCounter with @cyogalife #DwiHastaPadasana Thank you also to @yogawithaislinn and @rachely.wang Wärmt euch gut auf! Praktiziert ein paar Hüftöffner, kümmert euch um eure Beinrückseiten. Stellt euch in #tadasana . Spreizt die Zehen, erdet euch, dreht die Oberschenkel nach innen sodass ein Entenpo entsteht. Und während ihr eure Oberschenkelrückseiten nach hinten schiebt zieht ihr das Steißbein nach unten. Untere Rippen nach innen, Schultern noch oben und hinten. Finger neben dem Körper gespreizt. Schließt für einen Moment die Augen und erdet noch mal eure Füße in dem Wissen, dass der rechte Fuß eurer Standbein wird. Drückt den Fuß in den Boden, und aktiviert das ganze Bein. Wenn ihr einen festen Stand habt nehmt ihr euch langsam euren linken Fuß in die Hand, verschränkt die Finger am Mittelfuß, streckt ihn vorsichtig. Lehnt euch dabei weich nach vorne. Einatmend zieht ihr immer wieder die unteren Rippen nach innen, werdet in den Seiten lang und ausatmend werdet weich – beugt euch nach vorne und streckt mit aktiven Zehen das Luftbein weiter aus. Denkt euch mit der Brust nach vorne zum Fuß. Versucht eure Hüften immer auf einem Niveau zu halten. Ihr könnt gerne einen Gurt nehmen, wenn ihr noch nicht an euren Fuß rankommt. Wenn euch noch die Kraft fehlt das Bein so zu halten, könnt ihr euch auch einen Tisch, Stuhl oder ähnliches suchen.
