Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Urdu/Punjabi: نصرت فتح علی خان) was a Pakistani vocalist, primarily a singer of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis. Widely considered one of the greatest voices ever recorded, he possessed an extraordinary range of vocal abilities and could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. Extending the 600-year old Qawwali tradition of his family, Khan is widely credited with introducing Qawwali music to international audiences. He is popularly known as "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali", meaning "The Emperor of Qawwali".

The idea of complete trance whilst offering prayers has always had me fascinated. Sufi whirling or “dhamaal” is one such physically active meditation , Sought through abandoning one's nafs, egos or personal desires, by listening to the music, focusing on God, and spinning one's body in repetitive circles, which is termed as a symbolic imitation of planets in the Solar System orbiting the sun.
This song sung and written by Hazrat Baba Bulleh shah for his pir Inayat Shah rediscovers that same madness.

Rangreza is a movie that explores a lot of different aspects of this society.
It’s a story of people from different backgrounds and how their worlds collide. It shows anger issues, illiteracy, elitism and political affiliations and their consequences.
The movie is based on art and music and also shows what the people of the society perceive about musicians and how untrue that is.
In the start, I felt that there was overreacting from some of the cast members. Some scenes were overdone and they wanted to sensationalize and dramatize a lot of scenes, However I decided to keep watching it as I hoped it would get better. I was proven right. More into the movie, the overreacting element disappeared and the real emotions came into play. This movie has described art and music in a beautiful way and has aimed to present a lot of issues out there.
The actors have done a fantastic job (specially Gohar Rasheed) and considering how the movie is based on music, the songs of the movie are outstanding and the emotions are well presented through out.
I would rate it more if there weren’t the elements of overreacting. However, I would still recommend people to watch it as some aspects and twists of the movie are englightening and unexpected.

Dama Dam Mast Qalandar (Sindhi: دما دم مست قلندر) is a spiritual song written in the honour of the most revered Sufi saint of Sindh, Shahbaz Qalandar of Sehwan Sharif. The original poem was initially written by the 13th century Sufi poet Amir Khusrow, then further modified by Bulleh Shah. The modern melody has widely been popularized by many Pakistani singers like Noor Jehan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Abida Parveen.
