Audrey Eagle, 'Ipomoea cairica, Rarawa'
Eagle first began botanical painting to her her learn the botanical names of plants. She decided to create a book with paintings of every genus of New Zealand tree and shrub. A number of editions were published, until a two-volume edition was published in 2006 by Te Papa Press. It contains paintings of more than 600 species, all painted from life and life-sized. This plant is called pouwhiwhi or coastal morning glory.
Audrey Eagle was born in 1925,the year before Gottfried Lindauer died.
