I don’t think I’ve been this uncomfortable since my last fitness competition.😳
Yes I’ve been in aviation for a while but learning a new form of my skill, on a new plane, in a vastly different environment, in a VERY short timeframe (2 months) while fighting to keep my love of health and fitness as my lifestyle has made me realize transition tips applies to any dream/plan you commit to.
🔮Plan and prioritize your day.
Admission of weakness & dedicating time to work on them helped me progress. Initially while flying, it was my flying 😂 it was 5 years since my hands were consistently at the controls. Not to scare anyone, eventually it’s like riding a bike. That was sooo humbling (knowing you did do something well but now not at that level). I’m good now! But man my pride & ego took a beating.
🔮Work at your goals daily & trust progress manifests.
Was I impatient? Oh yes! Like most, parts of me don’t want to change. For me, I did not want to sacrifice my gym time, sleep, or clean eating. Being on the road and sitting for hours challenged my norms. I ate for convenience; sacrificed workouts for sleep. Starting small, workouts became consistent at 15 mins (running hotel hallways 🤣), packed protein powder and bought salads, & ate low carb.
🔮Invest in the right tools.
To concentrate on my flying, I bought a lighter headset for less distracting flights. To eat better, I bought a company approved cooler bag for meal prep. Resistance bands of all sorts come with me. And thank goodness I started good habits earlier this year with daily journaling to keep goals, wins, & gratitude tracked 🏆 .
This process as well as my experience as a fitness competitor made me appreciate a coach. I encourage anyone with a goal to ask or hire someone to make you push beyond what you think you can do.
Of course with every challenge I take on, I document my milestones with a photoshoot. 😂 The last time I did a hotel photoshoot was for @wbff_official
Worlds in Toronto. The fitness diva still lives in the pilot diva 🏋🏽♀️👩🏾✈️✈️ .
