It has been a good 10 years since I've done a power clean. It was always one of those lifts that intimidated me when I was younger and I just never got back to it. Overall it felt pretty good taking it slow with the wieght at first snd focusing on form and technique. BODY MAINTENANCE- ... ... In my personal opinion, there is absolutely nothing more important in your Fitness wheelhouse than Body Maintenance. It doesn’t matter if you are a Bodybuilder, an Athlete, or just a casual fitness enthusiast, you need to incorporate body maintenance into your routine 2-3 times a week. What does this include? 1) Stretching- I personally do a Vinyasa Yoga routine, 20 minutes at a time 3 days a week. Any stretching routine will do however, just really make sure you focus on the key areas, Hamstring stretch, calf stretches, hip flexors and lower back. 2) Foam Rolling- Your muscles and tendons get super tight with exercise, you need to loosen them up and help get the knots out of the Key areas. I focus on the same 4 areas as the stretches, but also use a small trigger point roller on my neck and shoulders. 3) Massage- Investing In a deep tissue massage once a month to really loosen and break up those tight muscles is a critical component in helping recovery and preventing injury. ... ... You can train for performance and aesthetics all you want... but if you aren’t taking care of your body, injury will inevitably happen. Do preventative body maintenance instead.
Good day to train delts! Nice blizzard outside, temperatures are freezing, and nobody even dares to drive in it! So when you do, you get a nice empty gym! 😁👌🏼 Today’s shoulder workout was a good one. Did a lot of sets of side lateral raises to get things going. Pyramid up in weight to really get the blood pumping and going! Did three different front delt movements (one machine, one hammer strength, one free weight). Then did rear delts with the videos here! Rope pulls work the magic on their own for me, but the rear dumbbell raises can get kinda repetitive. So, I changed it up and did them lying on a slightly inclined bench. Really felt it too but laying down took everything but my rear delts out of the equation! So it was a killer! Finished off with some standard dumbbell shrugs for traps! I even like to change up my trap routine as well from time to time to help me with growth! Can you guess what I’m training today? 🤔 . . . Not long ago, I purchased a pair of parallette bars and I couldn’t be happier. After a few days of having ZERO idea of what I was doing 😂... I began to notice that I was slowly starting to gain strength in my shoulders and back. This newfound strength then translated to the rest of my body, especially my core. In the end, it has significantly improved my body control and mobility. I can now at least “attempt” those insanely intricate gymnastics maneuvers that I’ve always revered.
