This 3D printer is creating a Martian habitat! Well, atleast a prototype of one. Last week I got the chance to visit team AI SpaceFactory that is one of the 2 finalist teams competing in the NASA 3D Printed Habitat Challenge next week. Using an extruder mounted on a robotic arm mounted on a forklift, the team is printing a structure that could house life using only recycled materials, and substances found in space.
The goal of the competition is to make the structure, windows and all, completely autonomously!
You can learn more about how it works by checking out my article on technologyreview.com or via the link in my bio.
