Leandro Paredes ‘has an agreement for a contract’ with Chelsea, claims Nico Schira, the Italian journalist who was one of the first to report Chelsea’s interest in the 24-year-old former Empoli and Roma midfielder.
The terms of the agreement are a fairly standard 4.5-year contract at €4.5m annually — or about £75k weekly (assuming those are net figures, as if usually the case in Italian media, or 166k at the max 45% tax rate) — not the cheapest, but also hardly anything out of the ordinary these days.
The sticking point with Paredes remains his transfer fee, over which Chelsea and Zenit St. Petersburg continue to negotiate. Chelsea offered €30m, Zenit want €40m, Chelsea have come back with €35m — again, just as with the contract terms, a fairly standard procedure, and a fairly standard price inside of a price range that has become Chelsea’s comfort zone over the past few transfer windows.
Given the standard steps this transfer has taken so far, assuming it doesn’t surprisingly turn out to be just a bunch of smoke with nothing substantial behind it, Paredes should become a Chelsea player fairly soon as well.
Real Madrid have been linked with a massive move for the Belgium star
It will take £100m to pry Eden Hazard away from Chelsea, according to the Telegraph.
The Belgian star has six months left on his deal with the club and has been repeatedly linked to Real Madrid.
Both clubs are looking for a swift resolution, although Hazard wants to resolve his future this summer.
Real Madrid are said to be interested in signing both Hazard and Christian Eriksen as the club looks to rebuild following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
What do you think Hazard should do stay in Chelsea or leave to Madrid?

Maurizio Sarri says Willian will not be allowed to leave Chelsea in January following reports Barcelona are ready to reignite their interest in the player.
OFFICIAL: Monaco announce the signing of Fabregas from Chelsea
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live after the match, former England midfielder Jenas had plenty of praise for Hazard, as well as criticism for his team-mates. “I thought Eden Hazard was unplayable," Jenas said. “He has gone by everybody and he must be thinking, 'what more do you need me to do?’ “Chelsea are a top side but I think he has outgrown them and he is above [the] level of everybody around him. "I never thought I would say it, but he's too good for this Chelsea team." Hazard's future with Chelsea is in doubt, with the Belgian having yet to agree terms on a new contract.
Real Madrid have been continuously linked with Hazard, whose current deal with Chelsea runs out at the end of next season.
And the 28-year-old has refused to offer many assurances to Blues fans, having called Madrid a "dream" move in October.
Chelsea is willing to pay £50m for Callum Wilson.

🚨🚨Michy Batshuayi contract terminated by Valencia 🚨🚨 •
The Belgium international joined the Spanish club on a season-long deal but has scored just three goals in 23 appearances.
And Valencia have now confirmed that they have told the striker that he has no future at the club. ‘We are negotiating with several clubs an exit for Batshuayi,’ Valencia’s sporting director Mateu Alemany said on Thursday. ‘The player knows and we hope to reach a solution soon for the good of all parties. ‘We are expecting an exit in the next few hours or days.’ •
But despite Maurizio Sarri’s desire to bolster his attacking options with a new signing in the January transfer window, the Chelsea manager has ruled out the prospect of Batshuayi returning to Stamford Bridge until the end of the season. ‘The club knows very well my opinion,’ Sarri said earlier this month. ‘I think we need something different for characteristics.’ •

Chelsea could report Bayern to FIFA
An interesting development in Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Bayern have made no secret of their interest in the Chelsea star and have made offers this month.
But Chelsea believe they have acted incorrectly and could report the Bundesliga side over tapping up, reports the Mail.
CHELSEA have reportedly lined-up a £50million swoop for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani to solve their goalscoring woes.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is desperate to bolster his forward line before the transfer window slams shut.
Talks are still ongoing over a swap deal that would see misfiring striker Alvaro Morata heading to AC Milan in exchange for Gonzalo Higuain.
However, that has not stopped the Daily Express claiming they are about to offer a huge sum for 31-year-old Cavani.
The Uruguayan became the most-expensive player in French history when joining PSG from Napoli six years ago.
Despite have to contend with superstars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe throughout that period, the South American has still fired 126 top-flight goals for the Ligue 1
N’Golo Kante has lifted the lid on Maurizio Sarri’s half-time team talk during Chelsea’s goalless draw with Southampton.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Kante said: ‘It was difficult to score. T hey played a good game defensively but we need to win and to find a way to score in this kind of game.’ Asked what Sarri said in the dressing room at the break, Kante replied: ‘Just to keep going because we knew they were pressing a lot and we could find some spaces. We had some chances in the second half and we were unlucky not to score. We were a little bit unlucky because that [Morata’s 70th-minute effort] was the kind of chance from which we can score. Maybe we need to find the right timing, but the game was a draw and now we need to bounce back in our next match, in the FA Cup, and in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. We will see what we can do this week.’ Kante believes Chelsea must be less dependent on Eden Hazard in creating and scoring chances. ‘We all know Eden is a fantastic player, he’s helped us a lot during this season and the seasons before,’ the France midfielder said. ‘He can make the difference at any time, but we need to count on everyone. We created chances that we missed. It’s a difficult moment but we need to bounce back.’ #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola #ngolokante
Gianfranco Zola says Chelsea are keen to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi and confirmed Bayern Munich's interest in the winger.
Sky Sports News understands Bayern have made a third bid in excess of £30m for Hudson-Odoi, who is keen on a move to the Bundesliga, but Chelsea are thought to value him closer to £40m.
Zola said Chelsea have "proposed a contract for a while", but are being made to "wait" by Hudson-Odoi, with his deal set to expire in 18 months. It is understood he rejected this extension offer. "It's about patience. I believe he has a bright future with us, but he will have to learn that right now for him it's important to get better and better every day," Zola said. "I know Bayern is very interested in him, but we're interested in him as well. For 18 years old, he's got a lot of potential. I know he hasn't played probably as much as he wanted, but this is down to the quality of the players in front of him. I've already told the player: it's not a waste of time. It's a time you can get better. You have to understand the journey's not finished. He's at an age where it's very important to keep a good attitude. It's not important playing straight away, playing 20 games, it's important to develop." #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola
