In 2005, the Busan International Architectural Culture Festival in South Korea organized a design competition for a new Busan Cinema Center that would be home to the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au's radical design received first place and construction began in late 2008, finishing four years later in 2012. In its very short history, the building has already won the International Architecture Award and the Chicago Athenaeum in 2007 as well as a Guinness World Record for the "longest cantilever roof" in the world. The Coop Himmelb(l)au team has managed to successfully bring to life an architectural vision of a caliber seldom seen off of the drafting board.
Do you know the history of the old Skyway bridge? The story is crazy!
The Sunshine Skyway bridge isn't the first bridge to stand at the opening of the Tampa Bay. But during a violent thunderstorm on the morning of May 9, 1980, the freighter plowed into the cantilever bridge (now know as the Skyway) .
The tragedy made More than 1,000 feet of the bridge fall into the bay, killing 35 motorists and bus passengers instantly. .
The new reconstructed Skyway stands taller at 430 feet to allow cargo and cruise ships pass by which brings in $55 million dollars in revenue to the Tampa Bay area.
They claim the next bridge will have to be taller or will have to be tunneled to allow room for the bigger ships.

In 1997, scaffolding was put in place to stop Fallingwater falling down. Four years later, a repair program was announced. It would cost 11.5 million dollars to right the wrongs of those daring cantilevers.
Is prefabrication going to be a future of delivering facades and buildings in general? We believe that is would soon be a case. Offering multiple advantages prefabrication usually descends upon engineers as a simplified, structured and a precise system. While resulting in a sharp looking façade, unitised systems often help to reduce installation time roughly by 2.5 times. The only aspect worth a worry might be a cost that usually gets compensated in a long run by a smooth installation, operation and a crisp result.

41 West 23rd Street is beginning to rise above street level as rebar is beginning to form the first level of the 25-story residential tower. Located on the eastern end of Chelsea close to the Flatiron Building, the tower is being designed by COOKFOX and will stand 322 feet. There will be a partial cantilever on the eastern elevation which was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Committee. There will be 48 condominiums and four affordable units. The building looks like it can be completed by the latter half of 2020.
