I was born and raised in a Christian home, homeschooled till I graduated highschool, and still live with my parents as I continue my education. Despite being relatively closed off from different schools of thought, I will credit my parents for teaching me to reason, and this has led me to also reflect on why I believe what I believe in.
▪My Premise: If truth is objective, and can be known, it will withstand critique and will be made known to the inquisitive mind. Therefore, I am not afraid to question my own faith, for if the Bible is the Word of God, it will stand despite any question posed against it.
▪My Initial Answer: From an objective standpoint, there is not much difference between the Old Testament and that of the 2 other major monotheistic religions, which require works and submission to God to be under His grace and attain salvation. However, we do see some hints of steadfastness and mercy in the Old Testament, but it becomes clearly distinct in the New Testament in the personhood of Christ. Jesus (God) is the only one to have died for our sins so that we are seen as spotless before a perfect God. We are accepted as we are and Jesus desires a personal relationship with his creation, or at least that is understood from reading the NT.
