Word! Mediocrity is for the birds 🤙
There are so many sayings out there that will limit your beliefs which will limit your possibilities. .
Money is the root of all evil. More money, more problems. Rich people are evil. Money won’t buy happiness. .
I could go on. Money makes you more of what you already are. If you’re an asshole, you’ll be a bigger asshole. If you’re the time of person who has two nickels and give one to a person in need, you’ll be an amazing Stuart if money. I hope you’re amazingly wealthy. .
It is also true, “mo money” presents different problems. I don’t believe it adds “mo problems”. But, it takes new mindset and responsibility to handle money 💵 and do well with it. Just be careful what thoughts you let in your mind. It’ll change your future for the good or the bad. Growing your net worth is hard. Being broke is harder.
I didn’t qualify for a lowered ER bill which was upsetting. Trying to be optimistic and be grateful that I am able to cash flow this from my savings. Minor set back.
New post at thedebtsisters.com (link in profile)! Our weekly money dates with ourselves have helped each of us go from being too scared to look at our checking account or credit card balances, to feeling like we have a pretty firm grasp on our finances. Whether you’re single, in a relationship with individual accounts, or have joint accounts and completely merged finances, a weekly money date can help transform your relationship with your money 💚
One sure way to financial ruin is keeping up with the Jones.
Most of us have a dream of a beautiful house.
Keeping our ego in check with our home means we can allocate more cash into passive income investments.
This is NOT our house 🤪 This is the stunning @balquissehotel
We went on a little adventure (SWIPE) today to an indoor golf simulator in the city so I grabbed my miscellaneous envelope w/$20 & our date night (“fun money” for some) envelope w/$65 with some friends of ours. Originally it was going to cost $60 but when it came time to pay, the guy said since it’s our first time we receive $30 off so the total came to $30 (our friend ended up Venmoing $20, so it cost us $10). We gave him a $10 tip and headed out with plenty of money left over to grab drinks and enjoy a beautiful Saturday in the City 😊. I call that a pretty successful date day! #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #golf #budget #debtfree #cashenvelopes
The October property report is out!
Spending time beating yourself up about why you are in debt is wasting your time. I know it is when I do. Things happened. Or didn’t. Either why- the time is now.
Sent 4 boxes to Amazon and now listing all the Lulu🍋 and a few more goodies 🤑
We spent MY ENTIRE Iceland budget yesterday over one simple mistake 😭😩 Putting petroleum in a Diesel engine. Shortly after filling up - $75.79’s worth of gas- our car shut down.
We freaked for a bit but we knew what caused it since we had literally JUST left the gas station. With our portable WiFi we were able to find the nearest auto body shop. It was across the street. Ari left to find out if they could help us and we got super lucky. Within an hour we had a tow truck taking us to the mechanic.
From 10am till 3:30pm, we had lunch at a nearby restaurant but for the most part we were waiting for them to tell us the news.
Not only was I upset at myself for messing up the gas type but now our day in Reyjakvik was a bust. NOT TO MENTION how much this was going to cost us and what if the engine failed?? Would we need to pay for full damages to our rental car company? Who knows because I’m surely not reading the entire agreement.
Luckily our car came back to life and we were able to hit the road.
With filling up again, the tow and repair, we spent an unplanned total of $483.16.
This was much more than I alone expected to spend on my entire trip here. But this is why we have emergency savings right??? Plus me and Ari will be going 50/50 on this expense so it makes that less of a financial burden.
LESSON LEARNED - Triple check the car for what gas you should be adding!!!
All the sad feelings but also so incredibly grateful for this life and these friends. I’m going to enjoy a few movies on this flight home and then SURPRISE🎉- meeting up with my Canadian friend @theathleticmusician
in the Chicago airport and quite possibly boarding the same flight home to Grand Rapids. These trips are making the time fly while Jake is on his annual excursion in South Dakota. So thankful for such genuine friendships. up, up & away🛫
My 100th post. Thank you to the #debtfreecommunity
for making me feel so welcome. I was in a very bad place when I made this Instagram not really knowing what to expect, very unsure what people would make of me in self inflicted debt but also an absolute frugal freak. I didn’t know if there was a single Instagram page like mine or if anyone would understand what I was trying to say from inside my mind. It was the best thing I ever did. I have been welcomed with open arms to an incredible side of social media I never knew existed. I’m SO much happier. Anytime anything gets too much for me I come here and document it and get nothing but positivity and support back, something very unheard of in this current day and age. (Mostly) nobody judges anyone and it’s refreshing to be around. ———————————————————————— 🥂 Here is to the next 100 posts and hopefully I can help people in this community in the same way I have been helped 🥂 ♥️
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about trying to be my authentic self. My husband and I had a budget meeting last night and we talked about next steps. He called me out and it stung a little...ok a lot, but he’s right 🤦🏾♀️. In my journey to become debt free, I lost part of who I am and what makes me happy by trying to conform to what other people are. I’m not saying what other people do or don’t do is right or wrong, but sometimes it’s just not who I am authentically. I’ve always mentioned I like decorating and cooking. For many, it’s frivolous. For me, it’s almost a form of self care in that I am able to be creative in ways that I cannot in my career. @thebudgeteer
mentioned in her stories her need to organize and get rid of things for anxiety. I can completely relate. My level of organization is almost exclusively a way to control aspects of my life. That said, I am not authentically a minimalist, and to say I am or go about that way of life isn’t my authentic self. Being true to who I am is something I will try to work on during this #debtfreejourney
So I have my menu set. I had to get super creative to stretch every penny possible and shop around a bit. I love Walmarts grocery pickup. I've been using that service exclusively for a year now. I decided to check out Aldi to see if I could get some of the items in my grocery pickup list before I submitted the order. Doing so saved me $13.76 on similar items and allowed me to put that money towards other items. I actually came in under budget for the month at $81.81. I will post my meal plan and food haul tomorrow when I pickup my groceries.
By making changes and getting creative I should have no problem making this a regular thing.

Good Morning! AVERAGE Joe on 💴 here with your daily encouragement, daily Motivation, and daily Money habits and tips! It’s Saturday and I’m sorry you caught my bed head, LOL! I was working this morning on some videos for some coming weeks and I was just struck by the idea that so many people make their lives so complex when it comes to their finances, but it doesn’t need to be! You don’t need to have a math degree or have studied business finance to win with money. Are you need to do is a few simple things really well. I would encourage you today to think of some ways that you can make your life more simple when it comes to your finances. And then do those few things really well, consistently! That’s all I have for today, have a great Saturday and a great weekend! I will see you tomorrow morning!
Creating a life you never need a vacation from should always be the goal. Not when I can retire at 65-70....

Halloween is an event I truly am meh about. I wasn't raised in a Christian home, but we didn't really partake in the day anyway. When we began our family, I planned to always abstain.
Over the years, my heart has become a bit more open to Halloween. We participate in our church's trunk or treat and my daughter has gone trick or treating. To be honest, Halloween is one of her favorite days, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly due to the candy.
Because Halloween isn't a priority, we do not budget for costumes. This year, I spent $4.24 of my personal money on their costumes. The only items purchased were the ladybug pieces from the @dollartree
My son's Spider-Man hoodie (aka costume) was purchased months ago from Goodwill for 99 cents.
Each year, we figure out what we have that could work for a costume. Last year, my son had a dino hoodie and was a dino. My daughter had been a flower girl in a wedding the month before so she re-wore her outfit and was a flower girl.
I enjoy celebrating Halloween in a frugal way and my kids are really enjoying all their candy from today's event!
