#vaginismus#dilators#dilating#crazyschedules Sometimes life gets busy and finding time. My Pt said no more than 10 minutes and it worked for me. So if you are trying to do 30-40 minutes and struggling to find the time. Maybe consider doing just 10 minutes. Also attaching it to a daily routine. If you need to take a day off, that is okay. Hope this tip helps.
Not trying to sell vibrators or dilators.. I promise.. many don’t realize that there is a link between the dilators and vibrators with history. Now hear me out.. you don’t need a vibrator to pair with dilating and sex if you don’t want to. To each their own but you might find it can help the muscles and with sex.. some sets only come with four dilators and so the jump in sizes can be big. Sometimes you can put tissue around the dilator and place a condom around the dilator to help to transition to the next dilator in the set. Another approach is searching for a vibrator that is in between the two sizes to work up to the next dilator. The other thing is sometimes your partner is larger than the last dilator in the set. You can find a vibrator larger than the set and matches your partner and work that direction. Just an idea. Food for thought .. #vibrators#vaginismus#dilators#dilating#vaginismusawareness#pelvicfloordysfunction
I take my work seriously and with caution in regards to not only the physical symptoms that my patients experience, but also emotional well-being and how they are generally coping. If you happen to be someone who has seen me, you probably know I also have a good sense of humor and like to laugh. When appropriate, it certainly helps some of my patients address what is going on.
I got this text today from a patient who had ordered a stage 1 dilator (fairly small size) from a company I often recommend. Well, she got her package today and was a bit stunned to find level 5,6,&7 dilators (much larger). The company accidently sent her another person's order that shares the same last name as her. I love her comment to me at the end of the text. 😂😅 #ilovemypatients#laughingwithher#dilators#pelvicpt
When used correctly dilators can be an incredible tool to help you overcome dyspareunia (painful sex). This is true for both anal and vaginal/front hole sex.if you have had a tear (fissure), hemorrhoid, or bleeding, you may be more likely to have these problems again. Using dilators can help prevent future problems.
It is important to start small. Dilators often come in a set of three sizes. You should start with a small size and allow your body to get comfortable with each size before rushing to the next size. Think of it as self-care. Think of it as a journey, not a race. If you have a partner it may be fun to try together. If you are too anxious it may be good to try alone first.
Why use dilators?⠀
Desensitisation: If you have experienced pain you may be understandably anxious or fearful about penetrarion. Your nervous system is on high alert causing more tension, anxiety and pain. Teaching the whole body and mind to relax is an important part of breaking the fear/pain response.⠀
Stretch Effect: Dilators are an aid to gently and slowly teach the pelvic floor muscles how to relax. You learn the angles, positions, and speed that work better for you.
Functional Effect: Dilators can be the bridge between not tolerating any touch or insertion in that area to full penetration without pain. The goal is pain free penetration. Although some porn will make painful sex look desirable, it should not hurt to be penetrated. If it hurts, you should stop to prevent causing damage. ⠀
