I GET ASKED ALL THE TIME… "Zac, How do you teach so many classes and not get burnt out?" It's easy. I diversify my offerings. I have mentored countless teachers on the importance of cross training. Why only teach one modality? At some point you and your clients will plateau, class attendance will begin to drop, job satisfaction will decline, thus creating the perfect recipe for burnout.
My advice is to believe in the power of "YES". In my lectures I often advise new teachers about to embark on the world to say "YES" to every opportunity they are presented. This means inconvenient time slots, learning to teach unfamiliar modalities (God forbid a Yoga teacher indulge in strength training), then get in your car and freak out on how you are going to pull it off. I get it, growth is scary, and standing in front of a room is extremely vulnerable. But guess what? That is where you grow.
I landed my first corporate training gig with one of the fastest growing boutique fitness companies in 2014 while I was volunteering for a non-profit hanging signs, and setting up an outdoor Yoga event. This opportunity led into me creating my first nation wide class format roll out, co-writing a manual, and advising on a teacher training.
While teaching a 6:00 am class a few years later I was offered yet another amazing growth opportunity. Helping another boutique fitness company expand globally with two models and over 80 class offerings.
Had I not said "YES" to an unpaid non glamour gig, or an inconvenient early morning time slot, I could very well still be a broke personal trainer.
So get out there, say "YES". Recognize if you have limited yourself by not being curious or too self-righteous diversify. And always don't be afraid to reach out for support. #ytt #yogateacher #yogateachertraining #edge #edgebytrufusion #trufusion #fitness #health
