popular chicken skewers that were perfectly charred over hot coals and a side of pork and vegetable dumplings. So super disappointed, however in @indochine_kitchen #papayasalad
that was a total miss with their bland grated carrot and papaya salad. Lacking the skilful art of sweet-salty-sour-spicy balance that underpins the perfect papaya salad, I was full of regret as the salad was seemingly only dressed with minimal fish sauce, if that. It lacked the depth of flavour and intensity I was expecting so unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be having again!
Today a new friend and I shared an all raw lasagna and a galactic bowl from Sayuri.
I also ordered dessert and tried that of others, all raw.
I have to say that so far, I love the desserts at Sayuri's!
They are well done, and look as beautiful as they taste. The bliss balls, the cheesecake, the raw brownie are all worth returning for. Again and again.
The mint chocolate flavor cheesecake was a hit. It reminded me of an Andes candies. And the best thing about the cheesecake is that it doesn't have that heavy cashew flavor that can be a bit heavy and sickening. It is a great balance of richness and lightness.
As far as the meal of the day.. The Mexican lasagna, for my personal palate.. was good in the realm of "aite" . I came in hungry and it was the first thing I ate which sharpens the taste and yet It was not something I would delve into extensive detail over. Mind you I am speaking on flavor impact and layering considering I have only had one other raw lasagna of which I also did not feel terribly impressed. It may be that I'm simply not a raw lasagna fan so still give it a shot if you feel so inclined. The spinach had an interesting aftertaste which may be connected to the type of spinach grown here. The ingredients were fresh and the sauce had a good substance to it.. but the plating left something to be desired as the negative space was only decorated by a few sparse crumbs falling off of the lasagna.
The side salad could have also been improved. I am also known for my salads among friends and personally prefer salad leaves to be cut up for easier maneuvering. I felt it was a bit dry and could have had more flavor.
What blew me away with the galactic bowl was the pesto on the raw bread.wow.
The flavor was perfect and the texture was satisfying. I would return for the pesto which was sooo delicious. The general ambiance is relaxed. I'd advise them to have some more fans in corner seatings that heat up.
I look forward to trying some of the other offerings to have an expanded opinion on their menu.

We're happy to report the new Appy Fizz is just right, improving just the right amount while keeping that classic taste. While we all know those bottom heavy bottles, the can is a nice change in form, and possibly maintains the fizz a little better. This leads to a brighter, sharper taste that brings the apple flavour out even better. It ain't broke, so they didn't fix it. Appy Fizz is still a cool kid.

ข้าวคลุกกะปิ/Kao kluk ka pee/stir fried rice with a shrimp paste - yes, that stinky dark purple paste (AKA Khey which is a slang for vagina😱). This southern dish is not too hard to make but who have to to prepare 5 different elements: stir fried rice, golden sliced omelette, slow cooked sweet pork bellies, sliced fresh shallots and fine juliennes of a raw mango. The dish here is homey and has a mellow oceanic taste from the paste. Any southern Thais would crave this dish when they are away from home. The cooked rice is stir fried with a shrimp paste diluted with a stock - gradually add to taste while stirring. Sometimes, the paste is stir fried or grilled first. Pork bellies are slowly simmered for an least hour in a broth of fish sauce, dark sweet soy sauce, palm sugar and coriander roots - until the broth reduces and the pork fat renders. Kao tang/ข้าวตัง/rice puff or puffed rice🤔served with a dip made from pork and prawn minces and coconut cream. An arvo snack but often eaten as an entrée for lunch and dinner nowadays . The puffs are made from shaping rice and deep frying it in a hot oil til golden and puffy. In the past, this was made from leftover rice stuck to the cooking pot, fired by charcoals - not a non-stick Tiger ricecooker that I use nowadays 🍚 These puffs are commonly circular while perfect rectangulars/squares are a bit more technical to make, depicting the refined palace style. These puffs in the pic are perfect golden square - not greasy. They are cripsy with a slight resistant due to soft packing for the rice in which each rice grain is still visible. Each grain seems to have puffed around 2.5-3x their original size so my guess is that they were gently shaped then deep fried in a soy bean or rice bran oil (hopefully not palm) at 180C (356F for y’all out there) thereafter removed from the oil while they were still softly yellow to let them golden off the heat source. The dip is served warm here which is a surprise as this is quite rare (or maybe they happen to just make the dip🤔). The dip is a balance of fish sauce, palm sugar and a wee bit of tamarind, augmented by coconut cream and embodied by the minces and some spices. The coconut cream usually made it hard to discern the flavours and identify the ingredients. I pick up white pepper, coriander seed and roots, garlic and shallots. We went to Le Swan last night for a double date. We started with oysters, charcuterie, and French onion soup. The charcuterie was extremely disappointing so do yourself a favor and stay away from that. The French onion soup was tasty but we were disappointed that it wasn’t the traditional ooey gooey cheesy goodness we were expecting. For mains we got the beef cheek and hot chicken sandwich which were both delicious. Another tip, do not get the side salad, it’s a waste of money. For dessert we got flan and malt chocolate milkshakes. The flan was extremely disappointing because the consistency wasn’t smooth like you would expect. The milkshake was amazing! Overall, would we go back? No chance. •

Night through to day, we took every opportunity to eat on our #hongkong
adventure. Highlights were the chicken satay skewer and the tasty bowl of noodle-soup where you choose the meat and type of noodles. I had squid, thick yellow noodles and tofu. Could do with another bowl right about now!

Had one of my disappointing experiences in food joints ever. The main course should be the main attraction for delight and goodness. The chicken is nearly ready most of the fingers are raw meat and you can still see the blood in some of them after having a bite. Paid for 4 fingers ending having basically 1 since the rest weren't ready or poorly made as mentioned above. The fries were tastier than the actual meal(chicken), so unless you are ok with rare Medium Rare chicken fingers with great fries that's an exception otherwise stay as far as possible from this joint. 0.5/4 on the fork scale meat should not be served if he is not ready if you can't diagnose or recognize properly how to cook a chicken done work at that business or get a proper education of how to master the basic cooking of chicken before running a restaurant based in a busy location. In can lead to a food poisoning or even worse. Lack of education in the cooking/food industry is 1 of the most dangerous sources for getting sick and poisoned if not knowing how to work in the kitchen and with handling with food correctly #badlocation #raremeat #raremademeat #chicken #chickenfingers #spicyfries
