These linen tea towels might just make drying the dishes a bit more enjoyable #lovethiscolourmix
As naked as the day they were baked...the sugar free date and banana cake I made for the birthday at the weekend.
The dates and sugar contain enough fructose to give the cake a nice caramelised colour, and keep it really moist...ahem. The cake rises really well and stays nice and light. The recipe is now on my website if want to give it a go #SugarFreeCake #CyclingBaker
Windy yet sunny on Dartmoor last week.
I'm playing at Off The Cuff in Herne Hill tomorrow night. First gig in a while. Come along.
Stunning sunny kitchen extension in Herne Hill.
Fascia is a very strong and well connected spider web. When one spot on it gets tugged or pulled or injured, the effects ripple throughout the body. This is why we may have pain in our knee that may have nothing to do with a knee injury, but everything to do with an injury to our lower back. The natural, fluid state of the fascia has been traumatised, causing it to harden and tighten.
This can equal pain on various levels.
One of the main "jobs" of fascia is to allow muscle groups to glide against each other. The quadriceps are made up of 4 muscle groups, Rectus Femoris, Vastus Medialis, Lateralis and Intermedius.
If the fascial sheaths around the muscle groups become adhered together this prevents them gliding and as a result reduces the overall functionality of the quadriceps.
When you think about the 'kinetic chain' that the quadriceps are involved in, you can see how tightness in the lower back could contribute to pain in the knee.
In the above photo, my aim is to ensure that there is separation between the muscle groups by sinking down through the different layers of fascia using a "listening" forearm and the client's movement to release the layers of fascia.
This technique allows the client to be in control of the release and how deep it goes.

Bobby be smooth.
A completely SUGAR FREE 1st birthday cake sweetened with only dates, bananas and lots of fresh strawberries and raspberries. A little bit different from what I would normally make, but there is life outside of Swiss meringue buttercream, honest...although mascarpone and cream can be a little temperamental...😱 As you probably know, sugar not only adds flavour, but also helps to tenderise a cake and help it to rise by creating air bubbles when it’s creamed with the butter. Making a cake without it can result in a denser cake, so you have to be a little careful with the amount of baking powder and/or bicarbonate used. #1stBirthdayCake #StrawberriesAndCream #CyclingBaker
