January 10-January 17, 2018.A 8 year old Muslim girl , Asifa Bano was was abducted , allegedly gang raped and brutally murdered in a temple ,Rasana Village near Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. Rapes in this democratic country is quotidien, but what highlighted the case was the chargesheet that got filed after 4 months and the accused got arrested on 16th April,2018 which is still a mystery unraveled.Rape wasn't a concern anymore. The minds was intertwined between the media and news that flashed a scenario "A muslim girl was allegedly gang raped in a Temple and the accused involved a priest and 4 police officials." And as the procedure headed towards justice , supremacy and nepotism had their stakes awaiting. November 14,2018-A simple case of gang rape and murder where the accused had been arrested was delayed and rather denied. Justice for a small girl was nullified. The question itself brings a hypothetical situation, *Why justice was challenged in an open and shut case ?* Rather the arrests of the accused led to protests by the Panthers Party, along with other local groups. One of the protests, in support of the accused, was attended by two ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party, both of whom have now resigned. The rape and murder, as well as the support the accused received, sparked widespread outrage.
13 April 2018, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as well as the Supreme Court of India, made statements condemning the incident and said justice would be ensured.
On 12 April 2018, a candlelight march was held at India Gate, New Delhi. It was attended by Indian National Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Priyanka Gandhi. In this 21st century, why always women and girls are only barred from going out late night , why does the society impose blames on the women for the rapes and molestations they face? Why the dressing of women is considered to be the main cause of rapes? Why is always the character of a girl or woman questioned upon? Instead , why can't the society question the character of men ? Why can't the parents teach boys from a younger age to respect women?
