Dejan Lovren has paid a visit to a strength and conditioning coach at home in Croatia.
The centre-back is stepping up his efforts to be fit to face Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp has resigned to fielding an emergency centre-back pairing for next week's Champions League clash against his old German foes after admitting he doesn't expect the Croatian to be fit.
Lovren didn't travel with the Reds squad for this week's warm-weather training camp in Marbella , instead continuing his rehabilitation on a hamstring injury firstly at Melwood but now back in his homeland, report the Mirror.
Klopp, though, admits Lovren is unlikely to recover in time for Tuesday's visit of Bayern in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.
And with Joe Gomez already out and Virgil van Dijk suspended, it leaves Joel Matip as Liverpool's only available senior centre-back - with both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson now on standby to partner the Cameroonian.
Of Lovren's availability, Klopp said : "I don’t want to rule it out but I cannot really plan with it.
“He is not here for good reasons, because he cannot be part of training. We are back on Friday. Then from Saturday on, Dejan is back at Melwood and we will see.
But, of course, we have to prepare it differently. If Dejan gives a sign on Monday – ‘I feel brilliant’ – then we’d have to think anew.
But in the moment we prepare the game and in this preparation Dejan is not involved. We have to find other solutions.”
