At the suggestion of @ladybelshaw77
, yesterday I decided to pay Waterstones on Gower Street a visit. So glad I did.
I managed to restrain myself from buying anything, as I have my next 20 (eh, 200?) books lined up, but I did spent an hour or so browsing. They have a really interesting secondhand section downstairs. I saw a beautiful first edition of Wilderness Tips by Margaret Atwood and a signed first edition of The High Road by Edna O’Brien, plus a signed first edition of The Book of Evidence by John Banville which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1989. They also have a signed Sara Paretsky @ec.reads
! Think it’s Deadlock. £20.
Even though the upper floors are mostly academic, they’re still worth a visit. There are lots of nooks and crannies with tables and chairs and window seats to sit and read.
