The real star of the winter season Moong Dal Halwa!!
1.5Cups of Moong Dal
1 Cup of Ghee
1 Cup of Sugar
1Cup of Full Fat milk
5-6 cardamoms crushed
5-7 strands of saffron .
Soak the moong dal in water overnight or in hot water for 1 hour.
Grind to a course paste.
Add the ghee into a heavy bottom Kadhai and fry the dal paste till it turns brown. Don’t stop stirring or it will start to burn. Keep the flame on low and this may take about 40-45 mins.
Now add the milk mixed with saffron, sugar, cardboard powder and cook on low flame for another 15-17 mins till it starts leaving the ghee on the side.
Roast the cashews on a pan till brown and cut the almonds into thin slivers for garnish.
Top the halwa with the dry fruits and serve piping hot. .
