One of the best pieces of advice I have been given came from a stranger on the day I took my shahada. It was Friday, about 10 minutes before the start of jumuah prayer. Shaking and nervous just outside of the prayer hall, I repeated the shahada after the imam, a local scholar who had been invited for Islam Awareness Week on campus. I don’t remember his name but I will always remember some of the first words he gifted me moments after becoming Muslim.
“Go slow. Imagine you’re on a ladder and just take it one step at a time. Because you know what happens when you skip a step and try to go too quickly? You’re more likely to fall. And it’s harder to get back up and start again once you’ve fallen.”
Prayers, fasting, dressing modestly. Finding appropriate company, maintaining family ties, controlling ones anger. I feel like this advice applies not just to the spiritual part of my life but any and everything. Healthier eating. A lifestyle that includes movement and exercise. Personal growth and self development.
Whatever it is, go slow but work hard. Concentrate on that next small step that will eventually lead you in the direction of your ultimate goal. Strive for progress, not perfection.
What’s one of the best pieces of advice you’ve been given?
Surah Infitar, Chapter 82 (The Cleaving Asunder)
Number of Verses: 19
Contents of the Surah
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
The theme of this Surah, similar to that of other Surahs of the last part of the Qur'an is about the Hereafter and points to five different subjects.
1. The preliminary events, which happen at the end of this physical world and just a little before that, the new Spiritual World is established.
2. A hint to the blessings of Allah that encompass man's entity, and the breaking of his pride, in order for him to he prepared for the Resurrection.
3. A reference to the angels who are appointed to record the deeds of man.
4. The end of 'the Righteous' and 'The wicked' on the Day of Judgment.
5. A part of the hardship on that Great Day. °Virtues of reciting this Surah:
A narration from Imam Sadiq (A.S) says:
"He who recites those two Surahs: Infitar and Inshiqaq and considers them present before his eyes in his obligatory and optional prayers, nothing will separate him from Allah and there will he no hindrance between him and Allah.
He will be in the continuous presence of Allah and Allah will be looking over him until all of the accounts he has with others are settled."

Al-Muqsiṭ comes from the word qisṭ and means the scale or balance. Taqasaṭū means to split something up fairly (Lisan Al-Arab). God commands us to be balanced, and He is Al-Muqsiṭ: the One who is most equitable, balanced and just. it could be that God Almighty tests you with loss, but He tests others with wealth. Perhaps He blesses you with giving you, and He blesses others by taking away. He may delay something for you, and hasten it for other people. It may take you years to get something that you want – blood and sweat and tears – and for someone else, it requires no effort at all. But if you knew all that God Almighty knows, you would understand that His decree is ultimate justice and mercy that is specific to you and your circumstance.

A lot of the time, it will feel like you are pulling a leach off your skin when it is holding on very tight. There will always be so many alternatives to letting go. And if you wait for the most convenient, you will miss out on the opportunity to feel the lightness, peace and freedom that comes with letting go.
Alhamdulillah!!!!❤️ Meet Talib a revert brother who has been a Muslim for over 2 years! Alhamdulillah! He is 65 years of age.
I asked him “ What made you come to Islam.” He said “ My boiler wasn’t working and a Muslim man came into my home and his character was so beautiful and because of that I became a Muslim.” We need to reflect and ponder about our character with Muslims and Non Muslims Subhan’Allaah!
Allaah says - "And who is more better in speech than one who calls to Allah (says: My Lord is Allah – believes in His Oneness) and does good deeds and says I am indeed from amongst the Muslims. Good and bad are not equal, push forward with one which is better." [Al-Qur'an 41:33-34]
Abu Darda (RA) reported that Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Nothing is weightier on the Scale of Deeds than one’s good manners.”(Al-Bukhari)
May Allaah bless him and guide his loved ones. Ameen

The Lord of All Kingdoms
God says in the Qur'an: “Say, ‘O God , Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent.’” (Qur’an, 3:26) Mālik means a possessor, while Malik means that you have sovereignty over something and can do with it as you wish. And God Almighty (exalted is He) is both Maalik and Malik. He fully controls and has ownership over the Day of Judgment and what occurs therein. He is also Maalik Al-Mulk, to emphasize and intensify these meanings, that He is the Sovereign over all worlds. And this is something we seldom reflect upon; there will be a day when we will be face to face with the One who has true sovereignty over everything.

Ra’uf is a more intensified form of mercy. Ra’uf is one who is so merciful, that his mercy extends before the calamity hits, and involves him taking care of you and warning you so that a calamity does not hit. Sheikh Ratib an-Nabulsi gives an example of a father who is protective of his children, and especially during the winter when he dresses them in warm clothes so that they do not suffer from the cold. That is ra’fa. Whereas a father whose heart aches because his child has become sick, and does everything to get the medicine to ease his child’s pain, is merciful—raheem. Imam Al-Qushayri states that ra’fa is the highest form of mercy, where God protects His servants by warning them of the deeds the necessitate punishment.
