My dad and his "new" gem, mini NES loaded with 30 games, more than he ever wanted to own when he bought me the original NES for "my" Christmas present. This man was deep into the gaming back then...the memories come flooding back when I used to peek at his sheets of maps that he drew for metroid. On the PC he had to draw top down 3D maps drawn for Blake stone, Wolfenstein 3D, etc... there were also sheets of NED save continue codes. Who remembers that?.. it was through him that I watched how he did the MS DOS configs on installations, and when we finally got a 1000 game CD in 1994, many games didn't work out of the box, I'd DOS path to a game I knew worked, cross reference the config file, and make any game work on the computer...at age 6 I didn't even know what the hell "config" stood for I just knew if I changed a few things it would display properly or have ad lib speaker sound or even ran without fatal error exit!... nostalgic! .
(It's no wonder I didn't have an interest at all in computer coding later on in life and wanted to play with mechanical cars. I have a feeling the future for me is going to be electric and full of coding though. 😁)
