Investing in the next generation is vital and something so important to me. Such a joy to see so many young women (and some guys) who will be world changers for their generation. #liveoriginaltour #nehemiah @legitsadierob
This week we will be reading chapters 7 and 8 as we continue through the book of Nehemiah. We look forward to diving deeper into His word together this Sunday. #sgatechurch #nehemiah #rebuild
I have had a blast these past 3 months to be able to spend time with my 3 little men but maternity leave is now officially over and now it’s time to go back to what I love to do. (I will not cry I will not cry I will not cry)😂😂#jukiael #nehemiah #malachi

I went to a Bible college and was constantly in the Word. It was great, but it was also a struggle. Part of the time I solely considered it homework, getting it done because I can be task oriented. Other times I would count it as my personal time with God, even though it was for a grade. It was hard for me to make the distinction between heart and head sometimes.

And truthfully, I regret that. What was God trying to show me that I missed because I procrastinated and did the assignment in a rush? What was He trying to tell me that I may have not listened to because I wasn’t really being intentional with spending time with Him?

Now here I am, taking part in an 8 month intensive spiritual leadership development program. In a lot of ways the work/content reminds me of Bible college, with many passages of Scripture reading assigned each week. But I don’t want to fall back into the cycle. So I’m really trying to intentionally separate the homework from my own time with God. And I’m already feeling the difference.

Recently I felt the desire to study the book of Nehemiah. This past week I started this She Reads Truth study and I have been loving it. And it just so happens that I (unintentionally) listened to a children’s ministry seminar on Nehemiah the other day, and this weekend my pastor even preached on this book. Clearly I’m supposed to be reading this book for a reason, especially as it pertains to leadership.

To be honest, this is a book of the Bible that I don’t feel very familiar with, even though we spent some time studying it in college. But now I feel like I’m looking at it with fresh eyes and rediscovering so many great truths and lessons that are found within these pages. I’m excited to continue this book and apply it to my life, as well as continuing to be more intentional with God personally and in leadership.
Looking forward to tonight’s service at Saron South as we conclude our series from Nehemiah. Join us at 5:30pm as we address the topic of “Get After It - The Art Of Devotion”

Last night was such a sweet time of worship together. We felt so blessed to hear the stories of all that God is doing through the #Nehemiah
study and to lift our praises to God together! Here’s the set list from last night if you want to keep it going.
Nehemiah 1:3-4 "They said to me, 'Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.' When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven." Grief is a powerful force. We often think of grief as something that occurs when someone has died. However, it can also occur when we are deeply shocked in other ways (as in the loss of a dream, of physical ability, of a relationship, etc). It can throw us into a whirlwind of emotions jumping between: denial, depression, anger, if-onlys, and acceptance.
Here, Nehemiah is deeply shaken that Jerusalem is not as healthy and restored as he had thought it was. As a result, he grieves the loss of his idea of Jerusalem. Read the rest of chapter 1 to read the prayer he prayed in the depths of his grief.
If you're grieving the loss of something you once held dear, talk to Spero. Reach out today.

Our Daily Bread |17.10.18| The Chainsaw and the Prayer.
The chainsaw in the title refers to the hurdles and trials that we are placed in our day to day lives. While everyone dislikes going through hard times, worrying and overthinking about the outcomes of our decisions, work, projects and school. In situations like these we have a choice; to either choose our way or God's way. But God assures us through the numerous examples in the bible that he will take care of us.
Even Nehemiah worried about his people and his homeland, when he heard about the damages of the walls and gates in Jerusalem making it vulnerable to its enemies. But Nehemiah chose to leave these things before God, praying immediately after he heard the news and before he sought help from the Babylonian King.
Truly God's wisdom and timing is always perfect, giving us only what we can handle, protecting and sheltering us from the fiery darts of doubt and temptations. Let this be a reminder to pray, seeking his counsel and wisdom bringing our worries anxieties or plans before him. ~ Duncan

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We are strong together as one! Let no men or devil take this strength away from us!
“The people you rescued by your great power and strong hand are your servants. O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer.
