It's hard to get fit when your work shifts are entirely random. It can be hard to get the time, to have motivation after work and can be even harder to actually figure out the best way to work out too. Here I have laid out 4 tips to give you a fighting chance at getting fit around your work shifts. 1: Prepare food for the whole day, every day. Yes, eating out of tuberware is boring and some of the foods aren't as exciting as nandos... But it lets you have your own prepared food with you at all times. This also just helps you get into a routine of structured eating and allows for an "on the go" lifestyle. 2: DON'T JOIN A 24/7 GYM. This allows you to push your workout back and push it back again, and continue pushing it back until you can't do it anymore. If your gym has a closing time, and you're paying the a fee to go, then you'll realise the value of getting there every day at the right time. 3: Get an appointments diary, fill in all your works shifts, get your appointments in, plan your sleep and then get your gym time in. That way you have an accountable note of where you have to be and when. 4: You'll realise that everyone in the fitness industry preaches 8 hours of sleep a night. But realistically, with life being as busy and cutthroat as it is nowadays, it's so incredibly hard to get that. I recommend you try your hardest to get that 8, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Even I don't get enough. Secret number 5 for dedicated readers: Hire a PT to help you stay accountable for your fitness. This isn't a hard sell for myself in particular, but that's what we are here for in the majority of cases. It's making sure you get to the gym, get a workout and keep healthy.
