It was a beautiful day to connect with myself, my feelings, my love for the ocean, my God & my gratitude. There is something so powerful about slowing down, breathing deep, #journaling
smelling the #ocean
air & putting your feet in the #sand
But by far the most important element of my personal self care is my continued involvement in Recovery. One of the best days of my life, was the day that I was introduced to it, 15 years ago. #Recovery
helps me live sanely in an insane world… it gives me tools to not just exist but #thrive
in my life. It gives me #freedom
from my hurts, habits, and hang ups one day at a time. I've been blessed beyond measure the past 6 years to attend @celebraterecoveryofficial
, which specifically puts #Christ
at the center of recovery. It's not something I publicly talk about very often but it is a HUGE part of my daily life, without which I would be a hot mess. I'm not perfect by any means, & I still have struggles … but recovery gives me the practical #tools
to deal with LIFE.
I'm sharing this tonight, to encourage you to check it out if you are struggling with any life controlling issues… For me, coming from a long line of #addicts
, it is very important for me to identify & deal with what MY OWN tendencies & compulsions are. Being rigorously #honest
can save your life! There is hope. There is a solution. You don't have to live a life beneath your potential! You do not have to be a slave to your every desire, your past, #genealogy
, or childhood pain/ trauma, and you definitely do not have to be a slave to #addiction
!!! Now is the time.
