Your little one’s body will take some time to make positive adaptations to the aquatic environment, just like it would take you regular sessions to see improvements during a fitness program, Pilates or rehabilitative exercises. While floating your little one will be kicking her arms and legs in all planes of motion against constant resistance applied in all angles. As hard as bubs pushes against the water, the water pushes right back. This is called Isokinetic Strength. Give it a try when you are in the pool, you will feel that your limbs will move at a constant velocity when pushing maximally and the resistance will vary depending on how much effort you put in. Interestingly, this sort of exercise can increase strength up to 60% faster vs. traditional training as we know it as maximal resistance is applied in all ranges of motion. Pretty amazing when we apply this principle in our little ones isn’t it? 🤔😊
