Sundowner by the Sea
Sometimes it doesn't feel I am in Karachi---a city known for its broken roads, monstrous size, ugly appearance, schizophrenia, maddening energy.
One such occasion was when the Friends of Empowering Communities through Change (ECC) had a fundraising Sundowner for the organisation. The ECC, Empowering Communities Through Changeis a registered Not For Profit Trust.
Cool breeze from the sea was adding a beautiful sensation glittering envioronment. Glitterati of the city, dressed in relaxed chic, welcomed spring over titillating grapevine and sumptuous finger food. The setting sun lent a glow to each face that just doesn't belong to Karachi.
ECC is not only a valuable addition to the ever growing list of Karachi people's initiative to improve the state of Its underprivileged citizens, it also has added another super glam, sought after event to its annual social calendar. There's a reason why Karachi remains unique depute all its ugliness and issues. And the reason is its fabulous citizens, specially women like Dilnaz Awari, Onaissa Abbasi, Jasmine Ajanee and Amna Malik, the remarkable forces behind ECC.
The primary goal of ECC is to uplift the lives of underprivileged communities through education, women’s health and hygiene, and community welfare and rehabilitation. Currently, ECC is supporting:
● Dar-ul-Khushnud (DUK-ECC) for children and adults with special needs. ● Ration Bank (RB-ECC), in collaboration with HELP, in Khuda ki Basti ● Hunarmand (H-ECC), a vocational training centre
● Pro-Youth Communication Centre (PCC-ECC), for fluency in business English and computer literacy at ABSA.
