8 quick practices to try to help manage an intense emotion or trigger:
1. Slow down! Try to slow down your speech, action, and thought.
2. Take long, slow breaths and shift your awareness from your thoughts to your breathing.
3. Notice 5 things you can see, smell, hear, touch, or taste.
4. Press your feet into the ground.
5. Feel or gently tap the outside of your body to remind yourself that this emotion is not bigger than your body, it is contained within your body.
6. Remember, thoughts are not facts, thoughts are thoughts.
7. Stretch your body into a posture that feels safe, nurturing, or comforting.
8. Repeat a mantra or word that helps you to feel calmer.

WARNING LONG POST BUT WORTH THE READ!!!! Creating this account was not easy for me. I knew I wanted to inspire girls and show them how much they need to love themselves, but in order to do that I had to love myself first. If you would have asked me 6 months ago about self love, I would have said I didn’t have any. I was going through a rough patch, doubting everything in my life and letting a darkness take over me. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I learned how important self love is.
I made this account to not only hold myself accountable for my nutrition and fitness, but to show women that you have the ability to love yourself to the fullest extent. It may take time and you may fail along the way, but I hope I can show you how beautiful you are and inspire to start a fitness plan, get back on track with your nutrition, and ultimately love yourself❤️ I am going to be real, vulnerable, and my true self. No sugar coating, no editing my body, just plain old me.

Health & happiness aren’t found in a number on a tag in your clothes or a certain number on the scale. We’re all too often lead that a smaller body = good health, and that isn’t true. Or that if we have a smaller body that we’ll be more attractive...which is grossly FALSE.
At my smallest as an adult (size 4), I was the unhealthiest of my life and also the most miserable. I would rather focus on healthy behaviors & habits and living well than being obsessed about what size I am and loving myself as I am. And while my clothing size has doubled since then, I’m also the healthiest I’ve ever been! Besides, what FREEDOM it is to not obsess over sizes & scales & measurements and every single thing little thing I put in my mouth!

A year ago, I would have never taken these pictures let alone post them, or be happy that I had muscle definition in my upper body😱😱😱 I love to workout, it’s a great way for me to control my anxiety and relieve stress. When I first started going to the gym, I was a cardio bunny and had literally zero interest in ever weight lifting. “Don’t wanna be bulky” 🙄 HOW IGNORANT WAS I! (Gaining muscle as woman is hard! It takes tons of discipline which I know now. ) .
Anyways, one day I happened upon @whitneyysimmons
Instagram and I fell in love! She’s strong, beautiful and capable. She owned her workouts and I wanted that. She wasn’t afraid of a squat rack or dumbbells! So I picked up a kettlebell and learned a few moves and it’s grown from there. .
My passion grew, my form got better and now I’m an @acefitness
