Probably wondering why I disappeared from the face of the Earth, a.k.a. Facebook..Welp! Felt like too much time was spent on there and, not enough time following suit to my dreams. The upside was that I made lots of friends, connections and loved reposting memes. My x had been harassing me and it followed up with a lot of re-opened past wounds that slowly started to affect my mental health. I felt it was time to 'disconnect' and focus on reality. I wanted to do so much and I felt like too much time was spent on social media and doing nothing productive. I want to focus more on me, my health, my environment and, pursue towards entrepreneurship. I'll still be on here and Snapchat if you all wish to communicate. Remove Facebook and Instagram icons from your phone's home screen and observe when you go to click where they used to be. There's is a habit that is built up over time, that if you log in there will be something to check, something to see, something that will make you feel a little better, or distract the mind from this moment. This is a minor form of addiction. This kinda explains my previous post. I want to be clear..its easy to conclude that we can will power our way out of this, or we can manage an appropriate balance... and Sure! You can for a short while! But in the long term you'll be back eventually.. And you'll be going just as hard as you were before. Unless you pull the plug.... It's naive of us to think that somehow our one brain can somehow be resistant to the manipulative strategies integrated into these platforms by hundreds if not thousands of these engineers over many years... I have always been the kind of person that is easily distracted and it can be really hard for me to focus at times. I notice everything and analyze everything lol I daydream a lot. and even though those are good qualities to have, they have worked against me at times. It never hurts to get an app that can help with avoiding that lol. I’ve struggled in the past with being addicted to social media, and in many ways I am still addicted. Addiction to social media is, being on your app for more than an hour or two a day, posting a lot of random things just to get attention and likes, posting things every time you’re upset, happy or just in a mood, feeling like you have to post your life so others can see that you’re doing good or to get people’s approval. This is what I’ve struggled with in the past, heavily. I am all for self expression, but I felt very isolated from everyone, misunderstood and lonely, so I turned to social media to fill those places in my life that I felt I was lacking. But I most definitely know better now and have learned so much from being that way, and finally I am making better moves towards my dreams and I’m back in school, I meditate more and do yoga more. I take care of myself more and I realize all I really needed was to love and take care of myself. Lol I’m not perfect though I still feel really lonely at times and I still want attention from people or I might just spam on insta just because I feel like it, like today. But I feel like this app has already helped me more and I just downloaded it today. If you’ve gone through or are going through the same issues I have gone through , then go get this app. Maybe it might help you too. Remember it’s ok to set boundaries and standards for yourself, it’s ok to have self discipline. And trust me it’s not always easy.
