A image of a novelty wave at home. I caught my first wave here as a 8 year old child. Since then whenever this place breaks I jump on the opportunity to enjoy it no matter what I’m riding. The military has constantly tried to make it unsurfable but when the city pumped sand to expand the beach this past summer it created a magic bar. I get more exited to surf, body surf, or just swim here than anywhere else on the east coast. Most come to try it when it’s stormy but my best surfs have been random 30min windows during the summer months where it becomes a wave machine, maybe it’s a submarine or big boat passing though the bridge tunnel but I’ve always been alone in those random sessions and it’s quite therapeutic.
