this little dude is very happy about today’s weather.
I absolutely love activities where it is really easy to understand and do. Don't get me wrong I love being with them whilst doing an activity but sometimes life takes over and I need to prepare dinner or answer a call!
We were recently sent these Star Wars @AquabeadsUK
and the boys love them!! #gifted #ArtsandCrafts #thisparentlife
Thank you to everyone who left lovely comments or took the time to message me after reading my sad sack insta post yesterday! It really is appreciated.
Im feeling much better today. I'm considerably less hormonal and brighter for a day at work in my favourite school. It's always lovely to be greeted by staff who are genuinely pleased to see me!
Dave got home super late last night but was up early enough to be able to give us all a quick hug before we had to go out for work / school this morning. He's away again tonight - and I'm so ready for him to be back tomorrow!
My skin is still sore but it does look a little better than yesterday so I'm hopeful the steroids might do the trick. Cross your fingers for me.
Who says you have to go into the countryside to enjoy a walk with your family?
Sometimes the best experiences are right on your doorstep. We love a stroll, especially at the moment, while the piles of fallen leaves are begging to be kicked!
You know what something totally ordinary but brilliant happened today. I took Rohan to a playgroup in our village and he walked in (holding my hands) and made a bee line for the classic coupe car, then he sat and watched the other children. A little while later it was snack time, he sat in the small plastic chair, helped himself to some banana, breadsticks, a few raisins and went wild for a biscuit. He had a little sippy cup and sat down the whole time, happily eating, sitting closely next to the other children. Then after that he played with some Duplo and the car once more.
Nothing out of the ordinary or eventful right? But that's just the thing, it was all so ordinary. Rohan did what all the other kids were doing. He ate snacks without gagging and being sick, he sat on a regular chair like all the other kids, he got his own food, he communicated when he'd had enough, he knew what he wanted to play with. It was just magical to see. He didn't stand out, he just was right where he should be and it gave me so much hope. Sometimes just the most simple of things can be the most wonderful when you're not used to things being so simple.
When did she get so big! Why does it go so fast! I have a feeling this picture will be one of those we have to re create every year from now on! Bittersweet though, I don’t want her to grow. Please stay little forever 😭
If you don't try, you'll never know what you can do!
Hands up if you find men baby wearing HOT AF?! 🔥 I’m not going to name that shithead of a man from the telly because he’s definitely trying to make a career out of being controversial, but you know, the phone hacking scummy one. 👿 In response to a lush photo of Daniel Craig carrying his baby in a lovely @babytula
carrier today, he’s restated for the second time lately that ‘papooses’ are emasculating. So I’m posting these 10 photos of @papagingeuk
looking like an utter babe wearing our children. It wasn’t hard to find images of Papa Ginge wearing our babies as I have loads (probably because I think it’s FIT!). We both love to carry our children. Our latest YouTube video is a toddler carrier review because we want to carry our children until they grow out of it. Lena has always woke a lot at night and would never let us put her down. At the same time we also had a wakeful toddler in Arlo. So for the first 19 months of Lena’s life, Papa Ginge wore her in a baby carrier from 7pm till she needed to nurse, often around midnight. 👶🏼 He paced the living room each time she stirred to allow me a little more rest before I started the relentless night feeds. The result of this attached way of parenting is our kids are just as bonded to him as me, despite me breastfeeding and being the primary caregiver. Frankly, if your fella thinks that loving his bairns makes him less of a fella he needs to get in the fucking bin! 🗑 Or at least start working on unpacking that toxic masculinity, it’s so 2017 👨👩👧👦
I had the loveliest day with this one yesterday. She helped me film a video, we had her haircut and went out for lunch and some shoe shopping and picked up a new little pet on our way home (Nemmie the hamster, welcome to the fam a lam!) She’s a total pain in the proverbial at times but I do love her so much 💕
When we went to Florida we wanted to really experience the Disney parks but we also wanted to see as much of Orlando and the surrounding area as we possibly could - this was one of the reasons we stayed in a villa and hired a car. Today over on the blog I'm sharing ten things to do with kids in Florida aside from Disney and Universal. You'll probably be surprised at how much there really is to do - as you often just hear about the big theme parks.
I’ve never believed in spending huge amounts of money on birthday presents for my son. We’ve always taken him out as his big treat. It’s always involved steam trains, the big love of his little life. But with a December birthday that’s always meant going on a Santa Special, which has been lovely but they are generally a shorter run and you only get to ride on one train. So this year we decided to celebrate his birthday two months early. I booked a surprise visit to the #bluebellrailway
and discovered #unionofsouthafrica
would be running. He is obsessed with the A4 Pacific class of locos. It was already a lovely day and then he got to stand on the footplate of one of his favourite trains. The smile says it all. He’d had a similar opportunity a few years ago when Bittern was still running, but he was too scared to go up. Seeing him there today was special, very special. #makingmemories
What would make your child’s day?
When your sister is pregnant and lives in a beautiful place it's hard not to do a few maternity shoots!
I'm so excited to be an aunty for the first time and I'm also excited to share more of these photos. It's sad to not be closer to my sister when she's been experiencing this; her pregnancy has been hard, but I'm so glad I got to see her before the baby arrives. Pregnancy, loss, illness and so much more has happened in our family, so much so that we really appreciate and cherish all the good when it comes.
New YouTube review! Does anyone else get irationally sad about saying goodbye to baby carriers?! It was time to say goodbye to our @becobaby
Soleil twilight (selling it if anyone wants it?) and upgrade to a toddler carrier. 😭 So we’ve been working with one of our favourite places to buy baby carriers @slumberroo
who kindly sent us the @becobaby
toddler cool to review for you all. Swipe to see me carrying Lena (3) in it and @papagingeuk
carrying our 6 year old in it. It’s going to be a great option for us going forward. For the full review head over to our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/3CRPh-i6WQQ #giftedforreview
PS, if you have not seen @papagingeuk
Instagram stories today and you want to laugh then head over now - hilarious!
What is with this weather? Aside from the last weekend October has been absolutely beautiful - probably the nicest October I ever remember, and as my birthday's in October I tend to remember quite a lot of them. Over on the blog today I'm sharing this month's #SiblingsProject
post with how these two are getting on. We had a weekend at home and I realised what amazing company they are. Athena made me a treasure hunt with a sweetie prize at the end, Troy read out loud to us all and we watched The Greatest Showman together. It was lovely. What did you get up to?
Goal this year - spend as much time out in nature. 10 mins. 15 mins. 20 mins. That's ok still. Yesterday we popped back in the forest by our house. We looked for mushrooms, counted them and swept leaves with sticks. An hr later, we came home with some new adventure stories to tell others.
We enjoyed following a scarecrow trail around a nearby village today and stumbled across a field of sunflowers, which had gone to seed. The girls had great fun; shaking the worn-out heads, watching the seeds tumble into the undergrowth and sharing the seeds between them. It was the blast of fresh air we all needed, followed swiftly by a family nap on our return home...it must be nearly the end of term! 🌟
Early evening creating chalk masterpieces in the garden 🙃 I’ve been nesting so much, my house feels so clean, tidy and organised and I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve bagged up so much for the charity shops, we no longer own anything we don’t need/use and it’s an amazing feeling. We are living a much simpler life, and considering purchases (much more than I did in my early twenties when my student loan came in!!) since having Bertie I’m yet to succumb to buying loads of plastic toys, preferring to have less, quality toys in the hope Bertie plays better & more imaginatively/creatively, I don’t know if it works but I know I’m keeping plastic consumption down and saving money towards more exciting adventures in our future. #katyindevon #bertieindevon #consiousparenting #consiousliving
We had a great day exploring the space centre today!
Scene from our house this morning:
James comes to me, wailing, holding out a notebook he got from the Titanic exhbit in Cobh. "Mum!" he moans, "Mum! Noah scribbled in my book!" I suggest taking out that page, and asking Noah not to write in his notebook again. He replies that he needs the page in the notebook, but he goes to speak to Noah. "Don't write in my book, please Noah!" he says, to which Noah answers, "I drew you kisses James. Lots and lots of kisses. I love you"
How can you be mad with that?
James asked him to use blank pages in the future. Crisis averted.
We have one very excited little boy today because we are off to @vue
in London to see the an exclusive preview of the brand new Paw Patrol episodes!!! Keep an eye on my insta stories to see all the fun #pawpatroltakeover #vue
I wanted to sleeping late and do nothing this Sunday.. but my kids woke up at 7 am and asked me what we're doing today 😓 What are your plans for this wonderful October day?
Сегодня мне хотелось передышки и просто поспать допоздна, сходить в магазин и ничего не делать.. Но дети встали в 7 утра и готовы к новым приключениям 🙈 Я сама виновата - их натренировала не сидеть дома 🤷🏻♀️
I pretty much have it all! While i trained Karate, my tribe @shin_godsheila
watched my girl, who loves her insanely.. thank you ❤️❤️ #momtribe
Weekend companions ... 🧡 Been one of those days when they’ve both needed a bit of TLC. We’ve had a lovely day; we went to the pumpkin patch, managed a picnic lunch and they had their riding lesson. But ‘fragile’ is probably the word for the day - bless them! This first term is a toughie, isn’t it? Hope you’ve had a lovely Saturday x
Over and out. I’m off for a weekend of Rainbow Science, paint your own squishies, Lego boosts and all the stationary a family of five could ever wish for. See you on the other side ☺️👋🏻
Have you seen the trailer for Smallfoot yet? The children have been begging to see it since they first saw it advertised! @WarnerBrosUK
invited us to bake yeti cookies in celebration of what looks like a pretty epic movie the whole family can enjoy. The recipe is over on the blog today along with more about the movie, which is out in UK cinemas now #ad
That‘s the only pregnancy picture i have.. i wish i would have taken more nice ones... i was only 6 months pregnant in that picture, and not really loving it.. gained 60 or more pounds.. #sessalinesibiza #oldpictureNOTpregnant
One of our favourite days in Florida was our trip to @KennedySpaceCenter.
We were all in awe of astronauts and the lengths they go to for the benefit of mankind - yep, their jobs are that big, that risky and that incredible. It was amazing to see Atlantis and Saturn V and it was a day out that really made you feel like you could feel history in the making. It was probably one of the most inspiring places I have been to and I wouldn't be surprised if Athena and Troy grow up to want to join the European Space Program now. It was all kinds of awesome - and I've shared more about it over on the blog.
Chocks away! We are ready to fly into the weekend and we’ve got a busy one ahead. Trains of all shapes and sizes are going to feature heavily one way or the other this weekend 😉 what plans have you got for the weekend? #mummyshot #mysonismyworld
