Really great 18.5km trail and fell run today, checking out some Public Rights of Way I have not ran along before, kinda north of my village. Real good fun they were too, passing through farmland that was not half as icky as expected after the recent wet weather. I passed random, prehistoric-looking palms and I was attacked by a metal ladder stile, cutting my knuckles as I slipped off it; gotta watch those metal buggers!
After those new trails, I joined the familiar North Wales Path north for a bit, before heading south steeply up back into the hills, starting with Moel Wnion at 580 metres. It's a fairly rough climb is this, following shoe-wide sheep trods and pathless moorland. From here I bounced down and then up again to Gyrn for probably the millionth time! It's a lovely little peak at almost exactly half the height of Wyddfa, at 542m.
One more to go now, up the long pull to a cold and windy Gyrn Wigau at 643 metres, before heading down grassy slopes for the last 3km to the village and getting annoyed again at land-owners blocking legal and valid Public Rights of Way.
Anyway, it was nice to get my mojo back after suffering a little this past week, although I've got a slight niggly right hamstring; always that side. I need to cross-train but I'm so rubbish at it 😂🤪 Fab run with almost 1,000 metres ascent.

"When one door closes, another opens but we often look so long and regretfully
Upon the closed door that we do not see the ones that were open for us" - Alexander Graham Bell
This past Sunday was my last hike of 2018 here on the island of Oahu.
It's a bitter sweet time for me as I make my journey to the big island and I wish nothing but the best for everyone.
Me coming in and out of your life 🤸🏾♂️😂
My earth age grows with each second. But I vow to never lose my childlike tendency for wonder, mystery, and exploration. From feeding/chasing chickens, to painting, to building sheet forts, to climbing down that mountain and almost getting stuck at the bottom 😂😂 I will remain open, and Wanderlust, forever 🔮
What's your favorite outdoor activity? What do you love about nature? 🌲
So let’s just get this outta the way, park junkie’s crazy. He talks to mountains, trees, rocks, streams, lakes & well, glaciers too.
A few years ago, on a hike to Grinnell Glacier, park junkie sat down & spoke with the glacier. Given the rapid retreat of these glaciers, he viewed it as sort of an “end of life” conversation, the type we humans must have with loved ones as our lives progress. After an hour or so of splendid communion with the glacier, and a quick dip in its frigid waters, park junkie departed, but as he strolled away, he turned and looked back at the glacier & said “I hope you look as swell the next time I see you as you look today...”
The next day, park junkie headed out on a random hike, without really consulting the map... The Highline Trail. Having not consulted his map, (cause why the hell would you? It’s a maintained trail) park junkie did not realize exactly where the trail would go. After some miles, our hiker came upon a trail that appeared to head up to a ridgeline and it looked as if it would have a commanding view. Up he went...
A short while later, park junkie was quite startled to find himself staring down upon the same gorgeous Grinnell Glacier that he had met the day before... and it indeed, looked just as swell as it had then...
"You're going to realize it one day. That happiness was never about your job, or your degree, or being in a relationship. Happiness was never following in the footsteps off all of those who came before you, it was never about being like the others. One day, you're going to see it that happiness was always about the discovery, the hope, the listening to your heart and following it wherever it choose to go. Happiness was always about being kinder to yourself, it was always about embracing the person you were becoming. One day, you will understand. That happiness was always about learning how to live with yourself, that happiness was never in the hands of the people. It was always about you."
