We are officially moving in to the top 5 of our 20 healthiest foods list! Coming in at number 5...
Blueberries are the King of Fruits. Their phytonutrient profile is off the charts, which makes them have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Yesterday we cited an article where Alzheimer’s dementia was even reversed by consuming an abundance of blueberries! Blueberries have a low glycemic index, can help lower blood pressure, and have a good amount of fiber.
Vitamin K: 32%
Vitamin C: 19%
B Vitamins: 4-5%
How to eat..
-Fruit salad with other fruits that you enjoy. For me that would be strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, banana, and pineapple.
-Add to juiced and smoothies
-Add to salads
-Add to oatmeal and other cereals
-Add to yogurt
However you want to start adding blueberries into your diet is fine, just start doing it! These little fruits are tremendously healthy and can go along way with preventing disease.
It’s important to note that all of the foods on our top 20 list could be swapped and mixed around with others, as everyone has different nutritional needs. For example, for someone who is deficient in iodine and B12, sardines may be their number 1 or number 2 healthiest food. For an athlete who is vitamin A deficient, carrots may be their number 1 or number 2 healthiest food. This list is a subjective guide meant for optimizing overall health for most people.

In this book, Clare Mann asks are you: - Struggling daily to live in a dark and cruel world of hidden animal abuse. - Consumed with anger, grief and a deep dislike for non-vegans - Full of despair that the world is darker than you ever thought. - Aware that you must change yourself if others are to become vegan.
Since I was able to answer yes to all of these and can relate to everything she shares on her wesbite https://vystopia.com, I have now purchased her book and plan to read it, along withe Melanie Joy's new book "Beyond Beliefs: A Guide to Improving Relationships and Communication for Vegans, Vegetarians, and Meat Eaters". As someone who is hyper-sensitive, I really struggle to live in a world that is largely uncaring of animal welfare, in fact it breaks my heart on a regular basis and, at my lowest points, actually makes me question my desire to be alive on this planet at this time. Much of human behaviour is quite incomprehensible to me so I know that, in order to heal myself and also to become a better advocate for the vegan cause, I need to work on myself as a matter of priority...so that I stand a better chance of effectively and robustly playing my part, speaking up for animals, fielding all the cynicism and even hostility that is routinely aimed at veganism, in order to make a difference. If you are vegan, please consider doing this homework for yourselves so that, together, we can become more coherent, effective and HEARD as a movement towards a better world.

or a graveyard for innocent beings?
Did your food beg for its life?
or was your food picked from the earth?

Vegan Tip was #10
“Being vegan is a lifestyle not a diet!” To successfully live a vegan lifestyle you have to realize that’s exactly what it is a “lifestyle” going vegan should always be done with the intentions of being done long term, A diet is done with mindeset of making a temporary change until a potential health goal is achieved. Going vegan is committing to new and healthy way of life for the preservation animal life, environmental life and human life.
What were we thinking? 🙏👊🙏
Happy Monday! .
Need a little breakfast inspiration? Try adding red pears and pomegranate seeds to your oatmeal. Wasn't sure if I'd like this combo but it was really delicious! Plus I'm loving the red look 😍
What's in my oats:
Red pear slices
Oatmeal is literally the perfect breakfast. Don't try to convince me otherwise! 😜 It's cheap, filling, delicious, and so versatile! You can mix and match add-ins to your hearts desire!
What are you favorite toppings for oatmeal?
Papírem a promícháme ji s trochou sušeného česneku a paprikou a dáme péct do trouby.
Mrkev a dýni očistíme, zbavíme slupky, nakrájíme a dáme dusit s trochou vody do kastrolu (kousek mrkve jsem si dala ještě opect k cizrně). Přidáme sůl, pepř, papriku, kurkumu, česnek a dusíme dokud zelenina nezměkne.
V krnečku bokem si smícháme proteinový prášek a mléko, vzniklý krém nalijeme k zelenině a ještě chvilku dusíme. Nakonec přidáme droždí a vše rozmixujeme do krému ručním mixérem.
Posipeme upečenou cizrnou, mrkví, bylinkami... dobrou chuť!💛

Vegan Tip #9
“Cook in bulk to save time and money “ Prepping your meals for the week is great way to save time and reduces excess spending throughout the week . Freezing your food allows you to save them to reheat at a late date. .
Proper freeze and save technique
1.Make sure your food is properly cooled 41° or below.
2. Wrap your food in aluminum foil , then place in freezer proof bag or container.
Being vegan is easier than ever with mock meats and prepackaged items in abundance. It's okay to have these items on the right every once in a while, but they should not be at the forefront of the diet.
There's a common misconception that eating vegan is very expensive. Yes, if you're buying prepackaged foods, mock meats and cheeses--essentially vegan alternatives--these come at a premium. But a WHOLE food plant-based diet is relatively LESS expensive than it's omnivore counterpart.
Rice and beans are some of the cheapest calories you can get in any part of the world! Take this burrito bowl for example. It's packed full of flavor with tofu crumbles (flavored with taco seasonings), black beans, corn, brown rice, homemade salsa, and avocado all on a bed of romaine lettuce. This HUGE meal costs just over $2 USD to make.
Just pick fruits and vegetables that are in season. And don't forget the frozen and canned sections! Not everything you eat has to be fresh.
Which side do you like better?
