¿QUIÉN INVENTÓ SQUAT SNATCH / CLEAN? Otro día @sergio.m.parra1 me etiquetó en uno de sus posts haciendo esta pregunta y le prometí investigar. En el año 1934 Gueorguiy (Jorge en Ruso) Vladimerovich Popov (1912 - 1974) hizo el récord mundial en el Snatch (98.2kg) usando una técnica revolucionaria que posteriormente fue conocida como "POPOV'S SPLIT". Fue nada mas ni nada menos que el #SquatSnatch que se usa en la actualidad. En su libro "Justicia de la Fuerza" Yuri Vlasov lo cita contando que debido a su subida de peso corporal tuvo que cambiar la técnica dejando de lado el Split tradicional. G. V. Popov representó a la URSS (de origen Ucraniano) hasta 1947 logrando 89 RECORDS MUNDIALES EN 3 CATEGORIAS!!!! En el 1957 fue consagrado como Entrenador Meritorio de la URSS (el logro mas alto que puede aspirar un entrenador) por sus aportaciones e innovaciones en el entrenamiento de los Weightlifters. So I've started a new strength block with #barbellbabesbrigade all the way up here on the Gold Coast! I am feeling fantastic lifting again, getting back into a routine, making the Coast my home. It's incredible how a couple weeks of consistent training can boost the self esteem and body image 💪. Last weeks deads on the left and this weeks on the right. Both weeks felt great, coach's feedback was to keep my hips a touch higher. I took a bit longer to get each set out this week really trying to get tight, lats on but being concious of my hips not dipping prior to the lift. Worked on openers tonight. Finally everything starting feeling good. I know it had to do with a visit to @3dpt_nj and use of @therablade it really did make all the difference. One of the hardest things I've had to come to terms with regarding my own training. Is that you cannot always go full throttle. Sometimes life simply gets in the way- and thats OK. We cannot do everything at once. I am so used to waking up at 5am and have training in my head first thing, what I'm gonna eat, etc. You literally live it. And I love it. For me training is definitely a way I can take control of my life when I can't always control everything else. Lol. Since I've moved up here, I have realised there is more to life than just the gym and I'm learning to enjoy some of the other things life has to offer, as hard as it is to step back a little. Don't get me wrong, I still do something active everyday But I have dropped a little bit in the intensity of my training. It has done me alot of good and my body (and joints 😂) feels renewed If there is a lesson in here for me it is to not associate myself so heavily with what I do. Yes live your passion. But don't forego the rest of your life. I suppose my point is, if your feeling run down, don't be afraid to take a moment to step back, take an objective look at what's going on around you and reassess your goals. I look forward to starting my new programme next year, with a new frame of mind - lots of food and heavy lifting. Some things never change.
