⛅️ If I've learned anything in the last while, it's that consistency isn't king. I'll pride myself on how often I show up, how regularly, how same-same, each time. How my tasks repeat themselves day to day and week to week, how I tackle them like a race of obstacles my legs leap over like they’re already in flight. How items on my revolving to-do list glide past like approachable, easy-to-tackle, creamy puffy clouds in the sky.
Maybe I wake up at the exact same time every morning. Maybe I workout every two days. Make a smoothie each time. Maybe I always wear black on Mondays (that was a thing for a while). Maybe I always call the same person at the same time, every day. Consistency feels stable, secure, and builds a foundation for us to stand on. But what if any of those repeatable, reliable, recycled actions falter? How much might that shake me?
I might think and feel myself a mess for failing to show up in any way, shape, or form in the life you expect of me. But we don’t have to be here to do the same thing, every time, every way, for the entirety of our lives. We change as often as the winds do, whether it lays dormant within or rears its head when the time is right. Our baseline — the soul that drives us, is ever-present. But we don’t need to be, we ride the waves of the earthly being churning inside us.
I'm not a wreck for missing my personal goals and deadlines. For losing routines I used to relate to and rely on for my sense of self. Entering a space of uncertainty, of "what now?”, is a terrifying thing, but it's what I'm here for. Stability is good. Expected outcomes are good. For a time. The sun rises daily as our eyelids peel back to meet it, but it looks upon a new earth each time. Do we crawl out of bed into a new skin each time?
If you‘re off your usual carousel, faltering on a path you don’t quite know the hidden turns and valleys to, don’t fret. If your anxiety wants to force you into same-same for the sake of saving your breath, breathe deeper than you have in ages. Melt into the unfamiliar pastures around you. Let your newfound self unravel who you thought you were and build a new you. Greet it, then set it free for the next one.
When you speak about something, you give power to it.
So the more you speak about problems, the more problems would manifest into your life.
The more you speak about the good things in your life, the more good things would manifest.
Affirm it by typing "I am a peaceful, joyful human being" in the comments and then repeat this to yourself daily and remind yourself of the joyful moments...🙌👍🙌😊😁
⠀⠀ 1️⃣ If you can’t see past the scale, you’ll struggle forever. ~ It’s just a number. (that can vary hour by hour & day by day). There’s more to you than that number...It’s not your identity & doesn’t begin to show your value & worth.
2️⃣ HOW you lose weight matters more than how fast you lose it. ~ Short term mentality gets you to the next fad diet your friend is doing. Think long term… Life’s a journey & you get to choose to make it a healthy one.
3️⃣ Forget motivation… You need discipline.
~ Discipline is a choice. Motivation is temporary.
4️⃣ If you choose to make your health a priority, there will be sacrifices & you’ll need to get uncomfortable. ~ There’ll be times you have to say ‘no’ to things you want to say ‘yes’ to & times you have to say ‘yes’ to things you want to say ‘no’ to. (foods, people, habits & routines, just to name a few) If getting uncomfortable now & then is the worst thing that happens to you, you won’t die & you’ll be fine.
5️⃣ It’s easier than you think to eat 500 calories of peanut butter. ~ Seriously. Measure that shit.
6️⃣ The mental part will be harder than the physical part. ~ You gotta get your head in the game. What you say to yourself in the quiet speaks the loudest…
7️⃣ Results come from consistency in the daily choices. Whether those results are positive or negative, aligned with your goal or not, is up to you.
~ It doesn’t get easier but you get better. Forget the “back on track” thinking. You’re not a train & you didn’t fall off. It’s called life. When you “mess up”, recognize it, realize it’s life and you’re human....move on & make a better choice next time.
8️⃣ Lose the “I can’t have _____” attitude. ~ You CAN have it, but you choose not to because your goals are worth it. If your “moderation” comes from a place of fear, it’s restriction & you’re more likely to feel deprived & tempted to binge.
9️⃣ Some people will say you’re obsessed. ~ Ignore them...they’ll likely ask you for advice down the road....help them. 🔟 It’s gonna take longer than you want. ~ Be patient. The time will pass anyway. #wordsfromthewise #listenup #weightloss #guthealth #rootcause
