Oh lovely summer days, how I miss you. We really had a very good summer this year with lots of sunshiny days. Although I'm definetly a summer person I also love to see the changes in nature. The golden leaves of autumn, with its storms to let go of everything that isn't needed anymore. The barren winter to rest and restore so everything can bloom and blossom again in spring. We tend to forget it but as humans we have the same cycles. 🇩🇪 Was bedeutet eigentlich "Asana"? Wörtlich übersetzt heißt der Begriff "fester Sitz" und ist eigentlich nur ein kleiner Schritt auf dem Yogaweg (Nummer 3 des Achtgliedrigen Pfads). Der feste Sitz soll als Vorbereitung für Pranayama (Atemtechniken) dienen und so später zur Meditation und Erleuchtung führen. Die Haltungen, die wir heute alle als "Asanas" kennen sind erst im späteren Verlauf der Yogageschichte entwickelt worden. Mittlerweile gibt es inklusive Variationen tausende Haltungen. Ihr Zweck ist, zumindest in der Yogatradition, aber noch der gleiche: Beweglichkeit, Geschmeidigkeit und Stärke des Körpers steigern um dann den Weg zur Meditation zu ebnen (wer sich verausgabt habt, kann schließlich besser ruhig sitzen 😜). Des Weiteren lenkt das Einnehmen der Haltungen an sich schon den Fokus auf einen selbst. Man muss sich auf Ausführung und Atmung konzentrieren und - sein wir Mal ehrlich - wenn man dabei schwitzt wie Hulle, weil selbst nur in einer Haltung zu bleiben unfassbar anstrengend sein kann, hat man keine Zeit sich um was anderes, als sich selbst zu kümmern 😄 in diesem Sinne sthira-sukham-asanam - Möge dein Sitz fest und angenehm sein! 💪 • 🇬🇧 What means "Asana"? "Asana" originally means "sitting down" or "seat". It's the third step of the eight limbs and prepares for pranayama, meditation and samadhi (a state of equanimity and mindfulness). All these poses we know as "asanas" are created later in yoga-history, but their intention is the same: find strength, flexibility and malleability to prepare for meditation (when you practiced and your body has done its work you're able to sit down and stay calm 😜). Even the practice itself is a kind of meditation. I haven’t been spending as much time on my mat as I usually do, with Christmas around the corner (and my wedding 3 days after 😱!) ...but that’s alright 😌trying not to think about what I should or shouldn’t be doing, but rather doing what I want to, and this month that means a lot of mat time has been swapped for Christmas movie time on our sofa! Usually my routine is based around the word “should”, it is also how my brain operates, I know exactly what I should be doing/eating/achieving ect, and whenever I do something I “shouldn’t” I feel a little guilty. Kind of self imposed should and shouldn’t rules. But for the next couple of weeks I am not allowing the word “should” into my vocabulary. It’s amazing how much pressure one word carries. #livingroomyoga #should #loveandalliscoming

It’s important to be able to spend time in stillness. I’m trying to be more mindful of my need to constantly move, always thinking and rushing onto the next thing, the next pose. My focus recently has been to try and learn to sit in certain poses and observe how they feel, observe my own need to move, need to fidget or wiggle. I find that even when I find stillness in my body I move my eyes, even if they are closed, they are still moving. Seems like such a simple task, being still and observing yet somehow it is one of the most difficult things for me. How do you find stillness? #stillness #livingroomyoga #yoga
When I do yoga I feel in-tune with my body, it helps me forget my self-doubts (even if just for 1 hour) and makes me feel powerful. It always amazes me what my body can do and how it keeps improving with time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anyway Happy Monday all! Hope all feel confident today or do something that makes you feel confident. Another weekend done and dusted. Monday again tomorrow... Today is the first day I’m feeling bit better and first day I managed to do some yoga. So I’m actually looking forward to my Monday and to having a productive week. Who has opened their advent calendars yesterday??? I have two this year 🙈

This flu sucks. I’m missing my practice and my mat. Currently laying on the sofa with very sore skin around my nose after using toilet paper to blow it every 2 seconds. Also I think I’ve had more than 10 teas today already 🤧☕️
I have had my last few weekends full and now I have a pretty bad flu. 🤧 I cannot remember the last time I have felt soo poorly, not gonna lie I am feeling sorry for myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For those reasons I haven’t made the time to take any yoga photos. Hence why last few posts have not been yoga related.
Zambia was insanely beautiful and in a way very isolated. Both, my husband and I, agreed it was the first country we visited and felt like we could live there. Just laying here and reminiscing 🍂🍁 Happy Sunday!

The Black Friday sale is the biggest marketing scam and millions of people fall for it every year. I mean even I found myself this morning browsing at deals and almost clicking buy... it’s sooo easy these days especially when it comes to online shopping. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do NOT fall for the bait and don’t buy shit you don’t need just because it’s few pounds cheaper. If you’re not willing to pay full price for it then probably means you don’t love it enough.

Just over here trying to figure out this thing called life haha 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 Can you believe it’s already November?! I feel like the year has gone by quite quickly but I also feel like it has been the longest year of my existence. It’s definitely been year full of change (mostly amazing changes, some unsettling changes) but I’m finally feeling a bit more steady. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don’t forget to reflect on your past year and give yourself credit for everything you have accomplished, not matter how big or small.
