I am not liking these late night posts, but with busy days of schoolwork and homework come late night asana practices. Tonight’s pose is supported fish, matsyasana. In doing this new daily practice, I have come to notice an aversion to backbends. I guess I always knew that I didn’t really like doing backbends, but now I am very aware of it. I can go into the subtleties of energy and the chakras and say that my heart chakra is unbalanced, which it absolutely is, but the fact is that going into a backbend like camel can easily put me into a panic state, even if I have warmed up and built up to it for over an hour. So I avoid backbends and heart openers. Yet, as some of you may have seen in these yoga Instagram posts, the poses that we avoid are the ones that we need most. So with this in mind, I am deciding to explore this aversion more personally, but share my next yoga journey to backbends. 🧘🏼‍♀️ To support myself in this Fish pose I placed a block in the medium position under where my bra line would be and a second block under my head in the low position. If you’re going to do full fish pose, you will want to keep your palms down pressing into the earth, but since my back was supported, I chose to really roll open my shoulders and keep my palms up receiving energy. This subtle change in hand position was where I was at today. Even supported, this was a deep stretch for me, so be careful if you’re trying this at home. It can put a lot of strain on your neck, so make sure that you use blocks and blankets as you need. Core training on fire 🔥💪🏻😉 - Teacher: @catbradleyyoga ・・・ Before we start we should say we are making a broad assumption that if you're looking to learn to handstand then you already know to warm up first! Just a basic warm up, wrists and shoulders etc. Go do 10 mins housework a bit of vacuuming and laundry works a charm 😉 So let's get started..... CORE ❗ Myself and Bex are sharing some of our favourite core exercises. We suggest doing 20 mins core workout 3 times a week. Feel free to choose any of what we have shared: try them all or some or one or whatever and post whatever you want . Just post something 😉 30 seconds on 💤20 seconds rest 🎯Repeat 3 times and it will bring you to approx 25 mins in total. ~~ Isometric ○Star plank - keep lifting from the oblique. ○Double leg hold - press lower back to floor and hold legs straight about 6 inches from the floor. ○Plank ~~ Hybrid ☆Crow toe taps - just hold crow if taps aren't accessible. ☆Double knee lift - from table top exhale, tuck pelvis and chin round spine and lift knees using pelvis about 3 inches from floor. Hold for a few breaths and repeat for 30 secs. ☆Knee to nose - try to maintain downdog position and draw knee to nose or head and hold for a few breaths then change. ~~ Dynamic . Russian twists - using a small weight, keep drawing navel to spine and twist as many as you can within 30secs . Leg sways - keep a l shape between both legs and maintain that 90° and lift pelvis by pulling top leg towards head. . Crunch with block - squeeze block between thighs, hands behind head and bring elbows to touch block. 🛍

🍇Hatha Yoga Pradipika (HYP) emphasizes that a yogi should take food in right quantities which is easy to digest (HYP 1.58). That food should be nourishing and sweet mixed with ghee and milk. It should nourish the dhatus (basic body constituents) and be pleasing and suitable (HYP 1.63). 🍏 Foods like green vegetables, fresh seasonal fruits, cereals, pulses, milk, ghee are not only rich in nutrition but also have great healing power. They nourish the basic seven constituents of body which are skin, flesh, blood, bone, marrow, fat and semen/ova. Vegetables, fruits, cereals, grains and pulses provide essential vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. Fresh milk and ghee maintain the mucous lining of the digestive tract and alimentary canal. Which is washed away by shatkarma practices; they also neutralize any acidity or heat in the stomach which the practices may create.

Всё чаще говорю о том, что Йога - это во многом про образ взаимодействия с миром, то есть с людьми, организациями (читай-тоже с людьми, но подчинёнными разным правилам), растениями, животными, предметами. И с собой. Вы ведь тоже человек. Это и про отношение к разным энергиям: власти, деньгам, чувственным удовольствиям. И про осознание закона кармы, причины и следствия. Если есть причина, по которой нечто придёт в твою жизнь, как бы ни подстилал соломки, это придёт. И пробудет до тех пор, пока причина не исчерпаете себя. Помню, как осознавала, что причины эти во мне. И что через разные ситуации и людей (которые, честно скажем, редко по-настоящему хотят вам зла), приходят энергии, благодаря которым мы учимся. Если душе предстоит научиться терпению, отовсюду будут задержки; если смелости - то пугающие ситуации; если целеустремлённости - то препятствия, и так далее. У меня были (и продолжаются) уроки дисциплины (человек-настроение вряд ли смог бы сейчас быть на моём месте), принятия (с чего я раньше думала, что люди обязаны соответствовать моим ожиданиям и представлениям о мире?), внимательности (с этим ещё осваиваюсь 😅). Но есть и другая теория: если ты знаешь о своих достоинствах и недостатках, надо выстроить жизнь так, чтобы первые тебе помогали, а вторые не мешали. Ну условно: человеку-настроению не идти работать в офис, а позиционировать себя как «творческую личность в ожидании вдохновения», и творить днями и ночами, когда оно придёт. В общем, понять, как удачно вписаться в эту реальность со своим набором качеств, пришедших из прошлой жизни. Работает. В рамках одного воплощения. Но как новому научиться? Sportsmed today 😍 I've been a client for over a year with the beautiful Hannah that has been a huge part of my recovery after the car accident I had. Today, they had a little different afternoon 💃 We learnt how to downdog and how to activate muscles 💪 It was such a fun class and group 😍 we had a little meditation at the end and I could see them feeling very relax! It's cool to be able to be on the other side, Hannah is the one that normally looks after me, so it's nice to go there and be able to give them back! Thank you so much for having me! Full moon 25th October 2018 in Taurus Scorpio sun, early hours of Thursday morning, 12.45am West OZ time. For me, the ride into this full Taurus moon has been a reasonably smooth one, in spite of a little Scorpio sun quick flick and retraction of the tail on the odd occasion leading to moments of brief yet intense emotional outbursts, largely the past 4-5 days have been held within the softening expansion of Love 💕. As Taurus is a fixed earth sign, it can be an opportune time to look at where we are holding firm with beliefs, habits or judgements that no longer serve us or others. To ascertain where our own stories are holding us back from greater growth, where we are continuing to repeat the same journey, reaping the same outcome. Allowing things to fester and stew, like an untended, open deep wound, perhaps remaining caught in the samkara groove, of habitual patterns dating back to childhood, karma or past life. A taurus full moon offers the opportunity of endeavouring to unravel where we remain inflexible, to stretch our selves a little further, to aim higher, if we approach it with self honesty, love and compassion.
