Today was hard, but the quote of the day is "negativity will take away your power." Lots of negativity going on this morning...rough week, very stressful week, feeling nauseous, took nearly 40 minutes to get through a 20 minute workout, almost fell off the step, hit pause 20 time's for "hey Mom's", and had to relocate the cat 5 times so I didn't step on her... “F&CK!!!” should never be the first word that bursts out of your 5 year old’s mouth when you play a game of “What rhymes with truck?” Yup! This totally happened to me on the train to Windsor few years ago while we were playing “what rhymes” games to kill time. I was obviously shocked, and my son immediately began crying because he KNEW it was a bad word and he thought he would be in trouble. Imagine the confusion on his little innocent face when fellow passengers and I burst out laughing hysterically. Obviously he has picked up the word from the people around him… there is a reason why we have a swear jar at home with me being one of the top contributors… but that’s not the point of my story. What I’m trying to say is that we are all creatures of habits and our habits combined with our environment shape our lives. If you spend majority of your time with people who like to indulge in unhealthy behaviours, it’s only a matter of time before you will too. It doesn’t matter what the behaviour is, even when you know it’s not optimal for your well-being, you will be affected. But the good news is, you can always correct behaviours and situations that don’t serve you if you make a conscientious decision to do so. You don’t need a trainer to get fit, and you don’t need a nutritionist to learn about healthy eating, because I know YOU KNOW what you need to do! The question is: why are you not doing it if becoming healthy IS your priority? I work with clients who are very fit, but they are human and they recognize the value of accountability!
