An old cattle corral outside of Castle Dale, Utah. I’ve wanted to shoot this at night for years. I finally had my chance. It did not disappoint.
Sometimes, even old and decaying things, in the right light and with Universal perspective in mind, can become bearable, even beautiful, in it’s own right. In spite of all that it is and all that could have been.
While some of you waited, warm and comfortable in your homes, I decided to stand below the Dark Sky and COLD sky until my gloved fingers became numb. Unprepared for such temperatures, I didn’t plan like I should have. So I let the cold quickly bite through my single layer of pants. Luckily my car was warm. After I finally had the shot lined up the way that I wanted it to be, I clicked the shutter release and quickly got into my warm car for an hour wait, shivering furiously for a big portion of the wait anyways. And like so many nights before, I thought about where I was, what I was doing, and even though things could be better, I’m pretty lucky to be here for this blip in the 14+ billion years of the visible Universe’s existence. I’m sorry if I ever seem to be forgetful and seemingly unappreciative of this fact. .
