A temple we drove by in Angkor. There are so many beautiful temples to visit in this region. The skies were blue at this stage of our visit, but by the end of our time exploring the temples, the skies opened up to a torrential downpour. Thank goodness we started the day with a sunrise visit to Angkor Wat. By the time to rain came, we had already been out exploring 10-12 hours. We had wanted to stay for sunset, but in the end, we were very happy with everything we were able to see. . . . . #instadaily #instago #picoftheday #photooftheday #photogram #travelgram #backpacking #abandonedplaces #wanderlust #travellife #travel #globetrotter #seetheworld #worldtraveler #traveltheworld #instatraveling #traveljunkie #travelingram #traveling #travelphotography #asia #instagood #instapassport #goexplore #stayandwander #exploremore #instatravel #cambodia #temple #beautifulcambodia

Loch Dochart Castle was built between 1583 and 1631 by Sir Duncan Campbell. The waterways on which the castle is built along served as a major artery of movement and communication throughout the pre-industrial era and, via the River Tay, provided access all the way to the Firth of Tay and the North Sea. ▫️ The castle itself was built over the site of an earlier religious house that was probably linked with St Fillan's Priory, located four miles up-river. The main structure was a three storey Tower house. ▫️ Following the death of Duncan Campbell in 1631, his son, Robert occupied the castle during the Wars of Three Kingdoms. Robert was an active Covenanter and supporter of the Scottish Government which prompted the Royalist commander, John McNab, to burn Loch Dochart Castle in 1646. It was not rebuilt following this destruction and drifted into ruin. ▫️ Image by @abandoned_scotland ——————————————————— ——————————————————— #scottish #lovescotland #scotland #historicscotland #travel #tourism #drone #visitscotland #love_scotland #travelinggram #natureaddict #abandonedplaces #travelphotography #jacobite #brilliantbritain #ig_worldclub #igersscotland #goexplore #scotshots #visituk #castle #discoverglobe #discoverearth #roamtheplanet #history #castlesofscotland #scotlandsbeauty #island #war #explorescotland
