I’ve recently been incorporating healthy foods & nutrition as well as introducing a simple exercise to my routine and I honestly can’t tell you how much better it makes you feel!! I have never been one of these people who get excited about the gym, and in all honesty I think I’ve joined about 10 different ones over the years and hardly ever used the membership! Surely I’m not alone here?! 🙈
I always have good intentions but then reality and fear kicks in and before I know it, I’ve not been again! 🤦🏼♀️
So I wanted to prove to myself that I could commit to cutting out the rubbish, and exercising regularly!
So we committed and we did it! We’ve been eating amazing healthy foods, and getting up 30 minutes earlier to exercise and the small changes make all the difference!! 🙌🏼

One of my favorite parts about of being a veteran is seeing brothers after years and years and it’s like we never skipped a beat. Reminiscing about all of our gunfights and war time antics is always a good time, but catching up and hearing how my brothers have bloomed after leaving the military makes me happy beyond words.

Simple simply means not confusing. It means the way to your goal does not have to be a confusing route. It does not require you to restrict the time you eat or perfectly time food consumption or eliminate food groups or buy sticks to check if you are in ketosis, blah blah!
HOWEVER, simple is not easy! It will take effort and some self control, and you should find a way to eat that can last forever.
Lifting 400lbs off the ground is simple, not easy! Hopefully that analogy makes sense. It’s basic, but will take time and a lot of effort to get to a place to lift 400lbs off the ground. If my goal was to lift that kind of weight, I wouldn’t look for some super expensive specialized piece of equipment that’s GUARANTEED to MAKE ME STRONGER! I know that consistent progressive training will get me there.
The same goes for your weight management goals. This time of year screams con artists!

This is what happens when you eat like an ass. Had a great birthday dinner out with my family last Sunday. Had my cannoli for dessert. Craved sugar ALL. WEEK. LONG.

I'm exhausted. I had zero motivation to workout. All I wanted to do was take a nap.
Well...the husband knows I have goals and is my accountability partner so, he asked me to workout with him. No, I didn't want to.
Yes, I complained a lot but I did it! I am glad I did it and pushed through. Sometimes you just need someone in your corner to push you no matter how grumpy you get it about it. Someone who doesn't give up until you get it done.

You're going to spend more time thinking about what the best thing to do is than time spent ACTUALLY DOING.
So when in doubt, when you're feeling overwhelmed - start with the basics:
1⃣ Start by focusing on nourishing your body with healthy food and exercise rather than thinking about it as a punishment.
2⃣ Eat mostly whole foods - they will keep you fuller for longer and nourish your body.
3⃣ BE PATIENT. This isn't going to work overnight. It's going to take months of consistency. Building new habits can take a very long time, so don't expect too much too soon. It is not a race.
4️⃣. BE CONSISTENT. Losing weight and changing your relationship with food is not going to happen overnight. Depending on how much change you need to make, it could take YEARS of consistency. Be aware of that.
5⃣ TRACK YOUR PROGRESS. Take measurements, take your bodyweight, do some fitness tests - whatever you do, track it! You can't see progress unless you write that shit down. (Good excuse for a new notebook).
6⃣ You don't need a new diet. You just need to change one thing at a time!

Results or Process... Despite kicking my butt the whole month of December I have managed to gain 2 pounds. SO WHAT!
We all have two choices. Keep going or QUIT. Well quitting is not an option so yeah.
Focus on the process, NOT the results and the rest will come. So instead of laying down and doing nothing after my scale slapped me across the face, I got up and got moving. You can do the same.
Doesn't matter what it is. Mat time, walk, run, yard work, house work, whatever. Just don't let one bad moment create more bad moments.
As Diamond Dallas Page says, life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Stay strong and be Unstoppable!

It's already a tender Sunday, as I am dealing with a body pain flare up. I'm tired and tender and just want my coffee.
But I had to deal with a guy following me, after I already told him that I just wanted to enjoy my morning, after he first tried talking to me when I walked by.
He then proceeded to follow me up the street, asking me why I won't talk to him.
And then followed me into the coffee shop.
He left after I said clearly that I am not interested.
Then stood in front of the window, looking in.
I had to go to a man standing in line, a complete stranger and ask him for help. I asked him to pretend to be my boyfriend because a guy wouldn't stop following me.
He said yes, thankfully and was happy to help.
The guy still came back.
And the person behind the counter had to ask him to leave and not come back.
Before he left, the man who pretended to be my boyfriend made sure to check that the guy had left for real and hoped I would have a good rest of the day.
I am so tired of having conversations with men about why are women so scared, angry, and don't trust men.
This is a small story and example of the experiences myself and women go through all the time.
Men, talk to each other about consent, boundaries and rape culture.
Hold each other accountable.
Listen and respect the women in your lives when we talk about our lived experiences. -
While size matters with some things, when it comes to the brain, bigger doesn’t always mean better or more intelligent. With overall size of the brain as a whole, it seems to be more about neuron density than total mass. However when it comes to the hippocampus, size does seem to have an impact on functioning. Albert Einstein's brain was 10% smaller than average but his neuron density was greater than average. Being Einstein is commonly accepted as one of the most brilliant minds of our time, this knowledge offers insight into the human brain and how it works. On the flip side, it would seem the size of the hippocampus does matter. In London cab drivers the hippocampus is significantly larger as a result of the mental workout of memorizing and navigating the 25,000 streets of London. Sections of the brain have also been shown to be enlarged through other activities like repeatedly playing a musical instrument. So, while woman tend to naturally have an increased capacity for memory, it doesn't mean that men are doomed to be forgetful. One of the most important takeaways from this information is that there are things we can do to consciously alter bits of the brain to improve specific areas of our cognitive and brain function.
