*sigh* I haven’t run (or worked out) since Thursday. My weekend was insane with family in town, hosting a bridal shower, and a work event so I missed my long run. I’m less than two weeks away from my half and I feel like I’m losing the will to finish my training. Existen muchas hierbas, especias o plantas que ayudan a tener sueño profundo y/o conciliarlo con mayor facilidad.
Les dejo una lista de las que más consumo y se han vuelto oarte de mi rutina diaria.
* ashwagandha: es considerado un adaptogeno (normaliza funciones fisiológicas) con propiedades antioxidantes, antiinflamatorio, combate ansiedad, estrés, reduce nivel de cortisol, antimicrobiano, etc.
* Canela: una de las especias más populares. Cargada de antioxidantes (polifenoles), incrementa sensibilidad a insulina, reduce nivel de glucosa en sangre, protege de enfermedades neurodegenerativas, combate estrés, ayuda a nivelar cortisol e incrementa función cognitiva.
* Hinojo: alto contenido de manganeso, magnesio, potasio y zinc, con propiedades antioxidantes, relajante, incrementa función cognitiva, alivia inflamación intestinal, digestivo.
* Lavanda: poderoso relajante, ayuda con problemas respiratorios, * Valeriana: esta raíz no solo ayuda a dormir mejor, también ayuda a calmar ansiedad, reducir dolor menstrual, es antiespasmódico y reduce estrés.
* Albahaca santa (holy basil): adaptogeno con beneficios antioxidantes, regula glucosa en sangre, disminuye estrés, ayuda a liberar congestión nasal, fuente de vit K y remedio para migraña.
* Tila: flor de tila es usada para combatir ansiedad, resfrío, congestión y es un poderoso relajante.
* Manzanilla también es un poderoso relajante pero también tiene propiedades diuréticos, por lo cual no lo recomiendo en la noche.
Existen más hierbas y especias pero estas son las que más consumo.

Majority of my patients with IBS have a mental emotional component that definitely coexists with their digestive issues. Antidepressants are prescribed to help managed the pain, which is interesting based on what you’ll see below, but unfortunate because these come with a ton of side effects and don’t actually cause the root issue of the problem. .
Serotonin which is our “feel good” 😌pleasure chemical is actually produced by the bacteria that live in your gut. Serotonin acts in your brain to after your mood. This means that any dysbiosis can impact the production of serotonin and actually affect the way you feel emotionally
The brain can also affect digestion. Think about when you’re nervous and have butterflies in your stomach 🦋. Your mental status causes a physical sensation in your gut through the intricate nervous system network supplying all your digestive organs. Our emotional state will feedback into our gut and cause a host of common IBS symptoms: gas, bloating, changes in poop consistency, burping, etc
IBS is so poorly managed by the modern medical system because they lack the tools to deal with it. I’ve seen time and time again that naturopathic medicine can actually result in reduction in symptoms, decreased frequency of episodes, regular bowel movements 💩, and overall increased well being
My top 3 suggestions for a happy gut and happy mind would be:

in them. Topped off with bee pollen and raw nuts for extra crunch!

Jet lag is too real 😴
I have never experienced anything while traveling like I did yesterday...
Multiple flight delays, which ultimately led to a last minute cancellation with an option to re-book for THREE DAYS LATER 🤦🏻♀️
Which led to my little brother picking me up from one airport to take me to another, two more delays, and finally home around 2am.
I could have had a real shitty attitude about it, I was inclined to, but in every situation you have the choice to focus on the positive or the negative...
I chose the positive.
I was only upset because I was uncomfortable, and once I owned that I could let it go and see the situation for what it was - An adventure. An experience. An opportunity. .
Was it fun? Not necessarily. But you can always learn something.
I’m grateful to not have been stranded in a city without resources (my family lives there) and the means to rebook a *way* more expensive flight, last minute.
But I’m home this morning, a little tired, sipping matcha, and ultimately grateful.
Also reminiscing about this breakfast yesterday that I got to enjoy with my wonderful family.
There’s something about eggs and toast that never gets old 😌
