We went to the most heartwarming Thanksgiving church gathering last night. There was literally the sweetest older woman I have ever met who insisted you call her Na-Na. She was so in love with our children and had tears of joy streaming down her face when she realized we've adopted. I've never had a nana and I want her to be mine😂❤ just one of those people who's heart is so pure you can't help but want to be around them.
That being said, she kept telling the children to go up and get more cookies and that I should wrap more cookies on napkins for a surprise for them when they get home😂😂😂😂❤❤ na-nas always be feeding the babies sugar!!!!😂...but to make it clear, I was powerless against this sweet womans persistence hahaha even i couldn't tell na-na No!
While I didn't bring anything home with me...the kids did devour some cookies and cupcakes last night (and I'm not talkin bout the kind I make😂) so I felt it necessary to make this hash filled with veggies and bacon and not let them have any sugar for the next few days!
1 frozen bag cubed butternut squash (I used market side organic).feel free to swap sweet potatoes
1 frozen bag chopped zucchini & yellow squash
-toss veggies with some evoo and salt, roast @425
until done. ----------------------------------------------------
1 pkg bacon (pederson's)
Fry bacon, remove bacon, leave bacon fat.
-1 onion chopped, sautee in bacon fat
Add in: -1 apple chopped -1/2 cup pecans chopped -1/2cup raisins
-sprinkle with 1 tsp cinnamon and salt, add crumbled bacon back in and roasted veggies.mix all together
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tbsp dijon mustard
Blend in blender, pour over hash and enjoy!

P is for Promises.
This is an excerpt from the letter we (I) wrote to Mama J when we were presenting our profile book to her. As you can see, we made promises to Mama J in what an open adoption with us would look like, (IF she wanted them): *Texts and updates directly to her
*Private Facebook page with photos and videos
*Yearly visits to FL to see her
(In addition to what our agency legally requires— photos and a one-page written update sent every 3-6 months for the first year and yearly after that until Nathan is 18 years old.) Yearly visits weren’t something she had thought about prior to our letter. Mama J told me it was something that drew her to our family because we were open to her REALLY having a relationship with her son. (We presented “gender unknown,” which explains why I say he or she in the letter.) When we met her in person in September 2017, she told us that her biggest fear was never seeing him again. That she would place her son with our family and then she would never hear from us again. She knows other birth moms that actually experienced this with their child’s adoptive family. It breaks my heart to think about those mamas grieving and wondering about the health, safety, and well-being of the child they placed with the expectation of an open adoption.
I know that there are situations where the openness must change to protect the child. I hope those decisions are made with lots of prayer, extended grace and, hopefully, outside counsel. It’s a broken system that can be filled with fear, jealousy & competition. We must not let our expectations or desires get in the way of what’s truly best for the adoptee.

Yesterday at Target I had a woman approach me saying, “I am praying for Judah.” 😭 I felt such power and strength in her words realizing “Judah’s tribe” is growing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Not only is he already in our hearts but he’s in the hearts of others. Truly incredible!!! 🥰🥳
coming up next week our family would be so honored to have you consider giving towards #OurJourneyToJudah
. Once we reach our first financial goal of $1,500 we can begin our homestudy!! After this is complete we will begin the process of being matched with birthparents!! 😍❤️
Thank you again for your prayers and support that is giving a child a second chance and bringing racial reconciliation to our world. Click the link in bio so we can send you a thank you card and add your name to the “Judah’s Tribe” plaque that will hang in his room!! May God bless you for being a blessing to us!! 🙌🏻👶🏾💙

Sara was born in Pocheon, South Korea and adopted at 4 months old. She has her oppa’s shoulders and her onni’s levity. She is a mother, partner, friend, and a professor who studies relationships and adoption.
“Adoption isn’t a fairytale.
People tend to like adoption stories that follow one of two simple plotlines.
1) Orphan gets rescued by adoptive parents, lives a life of abundance and love in new country.
2)Adoptee, unfulfilled in adoptive country, returns to birth country (“homeland”) and finds a sense of peace and belonging.
But our stories are neither simple, nor singular. Endings always pull forth questions.
What gets lost when we let go of Korea to build a life elsewhere? What struggles do we face when visiting—or living—in Korea? What happens after first reunions? How do trauma and abandonment shape our close relationships?
And, if we turn the focus to other people involved—birth families, spouses/partners, and yes, even adoptive families—their stories will show nuance and struggle as well.
Last winter I was with my three Korean siblings, nieces and nephews, and mother, celebrating Seollal alongside my husband and three children. I felt warm, surrounded by love, laughter, and the smells and tastes of jeon and mandu tteok guk. No one cooks better than my onni. From the outside, it looked like a happy ending to a quintessential Adoption Fairytale: Adoptee has loving adoptive family, makes happy family in America, returns to Korea, reunites with Korean family. The End.
But that’s not the end. Sitting there, in my mother’s house that afternoon, I also felt a heavy sorrow for everything I missed—Seollal and other holiday celebrations, and also the mundane everyday routines and the hard times: the contours of countless shared moments that sew family members together. I missed all of these things, and I will miss them again, many times, in the future. And then of course, I also felt the companion of these emotions: guilt for not wanting to wish away the life and love that I have.
And of course, my omma and my siblings have their own stories and feelings, some of which I know and some I will never know.”

Bueno, bueno... Ya estás por aquí mi perriespía favorito, ponte cómodo que te cuente.
En cuanto a las chuches me gustan todas, aunque mami mira mucho los ingredientes porque no le gustan los azúcares ni los subproductos cárnicos. A mí me da igual 😋
Well, well... You're already here my favorite dogspy, make yourself comfortable I want to tell you.
Snacks: I like them all, although Mommy looks at the ingredients a lot because she doesn't like sugars or meat by-products. I don't care 😋
I'm not breaking toys but I play hard: I like to play tough of war or run&chase, that's why almost everyone are stuffed ropes😅. The labels of the toys don't usually last me long, the proof is in my previous photo (it's a shame but I'm not a influencer dog).
And I think that's all. Have a great day!
